How to increase regular visitors to your blog?

My friend created a blog to help him build relationship and image for his website.

Give some ideas to attract regular visitors or readers to a blog.

To attract regular visitors on your blog:
1)Write quality content and keep repeating it.
2)Do not try to rank for keywords with SEO. It will give visitors but they will not be regular if content is not good.

Very good example for you is stevepavlina. I do not think he ever did SEO for his website but gets a lot of traffic and it has remained like this for years for him.
 
Thank you krishnaverma. As they say content is the king. With the continuous updates in algorithms by search engine sites, good content is becoming the main driving factor to increase viewership. Do you think daily posts could help me drive more visit?
 
Think about which people are his target, try to use demographics in your favor. ;)
 
Create great contents and posts it regularly. Start a facebook page/ twitter and share your blog contents virally. You can get good traffic from social channels.

In my point of view do SEO and build backlinks fro your blog. I accept from search visitors wouldn't regular visitors. But i hope you post quality and attractive contents. Isn't it? so change position from your unique visitors to your regular visitors.
 
Using Social Signal is better way. Like facebook, twitter, some other social sites. Bookmarking is another way to get unique Visitors.

As a lot of people here have mentioned, create great content. This is easier said than done.

Network with bloggers in the same niche. This may be as simple as following them on social media sites, and posting comments on their blogs. I learnt this the hard way, and was quite surprised by its power. (Although the links are nofollow, people do click on the commenter - curiosity?)

Maintain your social presence. This can start as an automated posting to Facebook/Twitter (try IFTTT). Follow it up with more user engagement that may not deserve a post by its own!
