make grup visible to all audience or public niche dont to general, and then make free share so other people can share video/photo to this group, growing by make a post in your group going to viral.

it depends on your product. I used to grow a FB groups about fashion, I created contents abour mix and match, tips to wear, related meme and some interactive posts like Q&A, vote,....
 
I am now promoting an online school group, tried to post links to it on the forums, but so far there are not many subscribers.
