You can actively increase exposure across relevant social media platforms and engage in the comment sections using a distinctive brand image.

It's completely normal to feel concerned when results don’t come in immediately, especially when you're handling both the website design and SEO for a client. SEO takes time, and two months is relatively early in the process—particularly for competitive niches. However, here are actionable steps you can take to help move things forward and increase the chances of generating your client’s first lead:

1.

Make sure your foundation is solid:

  • Check technical SEO: Ensure there are no crawl errors, broken links, or slow-loading pages.
  • Mobile responsiveness & site speed: These affect both rankings and user experience.
  • Indexing: Confirm all service pages are being indexed by Google.

2.

  • Are you targeting keywords that are too competitive for a new site?
  • Consider using long-tail, location-based keywords with lower competition but higher conversion potential.
  • Use tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, or Ubersuggest to identify opportunities.

3.

  • Optimize each service page with proper headings (H1, H2), internal linking, meta titles, and descriptions.
  • Add FAQ sections to improve relevance and grab featured snippets.
  • Ensure content is unique, engaging, and answers user intent.

4.

  • Create or optimize your client’s Google Business Profile.
  • Get listed on local directories and niche-specific platforms.
  • Encourage initial Google reviews to build trust.

5.

  • Begin building high-quality backlinks through guest posts, niche directories, and local citations.
  • Avoid spammy links; focus on relevance and authority.

6.

  • Use Google Analytics and Hotjar to see how visitors interact with the site.
  • If users are bouncing off service pages, revisit design, content, or call-to-action (CTA) placements.

7.

  • Start a blog and publish helpful, keyword-rich content regularly to drive organic traffic.
  • Address pain points your client’s customers face—this builds trust and authority.

8.

  • While organic SEO builds up, consider running a small-budget Google Ads or Facebook campaign to get initial leads and test what messaging works.

Final Thoughts:

SEO is a long-term game. It's not unusual for newer websites to take 3 to 6 months before gaining traction. Keep communicating this clearly to your client while consistently implementing smart strategies. Continue tracking performance and refining your approach based on real data.
