How to get/provide .edu links?

I have seen many SEOs offering .edu links with high metrics and was wondering how I could achieve the same. I read a few posts published by "experts" about how I can use scholarships or pay a student blogger to get an .edu link. Is that legit or is there a way around?

Sellers offering those .edu links are likely selling edu links from non-US unis. Those may be worthless. Careful what you buy.
