I'm not the best person to advice on tracking solutions. But I have to say 20% seems really low. 20% of only subscriptions you referred. You should be getting at least 50%. You are doing all the promotion for those subscriptions and the model has to put no extra effort. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think there is a way to track her new subscribers you brought to her.
Maybe you can ask for a price per visitor by tracking the clicks with a tiny URL.
