How to dominate this market?

Hello guys,

So, in my country, there's a classified's website where people post ads (for selling services, selling/leasing/buying houses, cars, electronics etc...any type of digital or physical asset).

This website was started in 2006 and they are very very old and EVERYBODY uses them and knows them very well, I want to specialise myself and start a website ONLY for selling/buying houses and physical stores. Would I be able to bring in people? What strategy should I adopt to make people use my website to look for an apartment instead of theirs? I need ideas.

Surely, but their website kind of sucks. Full of ads and it's confusing. Something optimised for apartments/houses and locals would be awesome. It just needs a good marketing campaign.

i know i would get me a website first with an awesome design, pay better attention to ON-Page seo while creating the website and do social media promotion heavily after completing the website - hire some staff for the website administration and lots and lots of fliers at public transportation, malls etc..

naaah actually i would just focus on my seo and social media even more than seo - create a brand name and make it better and more familiar than the one you are competing with.
 
How much would something like this cost me? let's say I wanted to use Python technology (Flask or Django)

I want something developed and tailored for me, I have ideas that would be difficult to implement using Wordpress or a ready-to go script. I want something from scratch :D
 
From my personal experience. They charge like $1000 to make you complete website.

I think I should learn Flask all by myself, I was going to do but just didn't find time and motivation.
 
To simplify your business model. I would allow users to post for free in the classifieds. I would make my money through premium listing service. Aka if you want your listed to be shown first for two weeks in a certain category, then tell them it costs $50 for example.

Don't reinvent the wheel if you don't need to.
 
Olx.in and quikr.com can be your inspiration. It is for Indian.

Yes, considering promotion needs investment too.
But once, it starts going, there will be no collapse in case of OP.

Joint Venture can be a good thing in this.

I said that because the average salary in my country is 200$/m. And I am not even qualified for an 'average' salary so I get like 120$/m. It would take me a year of sparing to afford 1000$.

Yes of course, that's what I am thinking about. Limited number of ads for free and premium for exposure + unlimited ads.
