How to decrease the bounce rate without any harm to the site?

Hello Users,

May i know how can i reduce the website bounce rate of local site, as of now the bounce rate is showing 93% but the Alexa traffic local is showing good result, but bounce rate is too much in the local site, any solution's? or any tool...

Please help...

Are we talking referral traffic or organic serps traffic ?

Either way you should start by adopting the role of someone clicking a link to your site. If you're that person seeing your link in the context in which they find it (or seeing your title tag / meta description in the serps) and you click on that link, are you getting the content, the page that you were actually looking for ? E.g. if my meta description says 'click on my website for a free car' and then you click on the link and it leads you to a page about applesauce--well, those people are going to be annoyed and leave.

Q: are your link anchors (to your site) / meta description deceptive ?
Q: is your content decent and easily navigatable with proper grammar and spelling ?
Q: Do you have a solid call to action on your page ? Do people know what you want for them to do ?

Try to improve the quality of your articles. Shift your tone to a more engaging one if possible, and also add some call-to-actions. You can add pictures too. Pages that are just be huge walls of text deter readers.

Thanks for your valuable answers i have used alexa auto watcher just to bring the alexa to a good volume, but that harmed the bounce rate in the site.We'll use the above but what went good is most of the keyword are on top of google serps

Saw a tool called backjacker once if you wanna get dirty and black with it. I would think it is fairly risky though.

To reduce the bounce rate the real thing that work effectively is the quality of your content and website. With this your visitors will be more engaged.

Adding videos to your content somehow reduces bounce rate. Also, adding related posts and pages to articles makes the visitors explore your site more. Great user interface also plays a role in making your readers stay longer.

You can decrease your bounce rate by adding:

1) High qaulity and relevant images and videos
2) Unique content
3) Exit popups
4) Sticky sidebar
5) Customer reviews
6) Video testimonials

'without doing any harm to the site' - I'm guessing you mean you want to avoid anything obtrusive like popups and flashy graphics?

The absolute biggest thing you can do is litter your content with internal links. Keep sending them deeper and deeper into your site through their own curiosity.

The second is to use a related posts plugin - this reduced my bounce rate by 10% overnight.

Do some tweaks. Add some kick ass images. Imrpove site's design leading to other pages in ur site, make navigation easier, and link to internal pages using some sensational anchors.. so user feels compelled to take a look at it.

Technically, if you could delay the analytics script load to like 5000 ms or more, you will have a lesser bounce rate, but I would rather try to make the pages more user friendly and content rich instead of manipulating bounce rate.

The best way to reduce bounce rate is generating the content that your users want. But that content should be high quality content.

What I recommend to know what is the content that more engage to your visitors. You can use Google Analytics to know this. In Behavior tab --> Site Content --> Content Drilldown, there you will see what is this content. This is very useful for content marketing(like ebooks for subscribers).
