One of my friends has a problem. She had a Rip-Off report, which hurts her business. The report containts a lots of lie about her, and this lies are on the first page of the google. How she can decrease those rankings, where the reports are? I really feel for her, because the competition made negative campaign against her.

My firm handles reputation management and we will gladly consult with your friend - or you, if preferred - to see how we can help. PM me, add me on Skype (artizhay), or e-mail me at patrick@ink2pixel.com.

Take it as a good thing. Since it ranking on top, make use of it instead of taking it down. Your friend could go in herself and clarify things up or asking her friends or clients to back her up on their testimonials.

The absolute worst thing you can do is to respond to any negative report. In making a response to a negative complaint, the person is creating new content for the search engines and the negative content will be harder to displace.

Unless you want to pay Ed Magedson a large one time fee and a monthly maintenance fee under his Corporate Advocacy Program (CAP), you should simply bury he content.

Agreed. If it was a Yelp page or something similar, the response approach may make sense, though we usually advise clients to let us bury the page while remedial negotiations are taking place with the upset customers, then we can push it back up the rankings once the overall review page sentiment has improved.

But something like a Ripoff Report is never going to provide a boost in business. Right there in the name it says "ripoff." Why would this kind of association ever be good for business? It's not.

However, the client could contact the customer outside of the RoR, resolve the situation, and ask them to remove the listing.

That does not happen on ROR, the complaints are never taken down. many of the negative content sites do not take complaints down. Others, like pissedconsumer and complaintsboard will be happy to take a complaint down after the person pays them $500.

You could look for the service of a reputation management team. I'm sure there are a lot of BHW members who could do that for you and your friend.

The best way to combat this is to get good reviews up there.
