How to create a forum in wordpress?

I think bbpress is the way to go right? but what other free plugins and themes can i use to make it better? Any suggestions and tips is deeply appreciated.

I used simple-press, it's really a full featured plugin, I like it, this plugin was created by two men, they created/updated it about 10 years , so it's reliable. It's not free ,but compared to other forum software especially some cloud base monthly subscriptions , it's much cheaper.

BBPress is complete solution of Forum website. But, you can select appropirate theme as per your requirment. All necessary plugis are come with themes
