    Hello,

So.. Previously when I was choosing keywords for my websites from (google adwords tool) I was looking at the "competition" bar.. But Now, I have noticed that this "bar" is only for the Bid campaign for advertising..

So.. How can I see the competition for a keyword? Is there some kind of a tool? or something ?

I want to choose let's say 10 keywords, and I want to check their competition..

    Best Regards,
    Simeon

Traffic travis, market samurai and SEoQuake (browser) are popular for checking the competition of a keyword. There is some positive correlation between adwords competition and rank difficulty because those niches tend to be profitable and people spend more time optimising those keywords. On the plus side, high competition means higher cpc.

Analyze the Top 10 ranking websites and see if you can beat them.

    Factors to look at:

    Off page SEO. (80%)
    - Backlinks Count
    - Backlinks Type/Quality
    - PR
    - Domain Age

    On page SEO optimization. (20%)
    - Keywords in Title
    - Keywords in URL
    - Keywords in Description
    - Keywords in H1 tag on front page

Those tools are great for analyzing large volumes of keywords at once, but you should learn how to manually analyze competition before targeting a keyword. Some things to consider:

the page rank of the 1st page listings
the onsite optimization for the keyword (is it in the title?)
the amount and quality of competition's backlinks

Figuring out competition can be tough, but I have recently tried market samurai which seems like the best tool for determining the competition of a keyword. It?s not just about the quality of links pointing to a url, it can often be the authority of the domain passing to the url which is why Wikipedia ranks so well in Google.

I would search a keyword that's relevant to the niche you are researching then check the meta keywords of the top 5 ranked sites. Make a list of them and look at which ones are getting the search volumes then start competing against them. Obviously your going to want to check the competitors backlinks etc..

Edit, I looked up some info about the meta keywords tag and found that not only does not everybody use it anymore, but it seems to be somewhat irrelevant in today's google.

I find that google seems to almost NEGATIVELY judge meta keywords now.

It's just an indicator that the webmaster actually do any on-page SEO, if s/he does it means, s/he will also be doing off-page SEO, linkbuilding etc.

I use this as well as Market Samurai. Works well as you might want to know how much people will be bidding on the keyword.
