I recently came across this article published two days ago by search engine journal. It talks about the difference between building links for Bing/yahoo vs building for Google, and while I've researched the topic numerous times before I never really found specific differences, just authors beating around the bush and all.

But this one - I found this one pretty cool, though I'm not sure how accurate it is. What it says basically is that there are three aspects where Bing links differ from Google:

  • Quantity - Apparently, while Google prefer a few high quality links over lots of low quality, Bing prefers both. Quantity and quality.
  • Anchor Text - While Google prefers anchor text diversity, Bing likes it when you focus and optimise a handful of anchors only.
  • Social Media - Social signals are good for Google ranking to an extent, but apparently Bing loves them even more and can have even bigger impact on bing/yahoo rankings.

What do you think about these points? Have you noticed them to be true for your sites?

I have noticed many people think building links more is more helpful but according to that article 20 links a month is best for our website and to get avoid penalties.

Thank you for anchor text I didn't know about this and the article is much useful to many of the members:).

You're welcome!

Still, all of this are destroyed on Google by the domain authority.

You can even bag Google, he will rank higher an authority instead of new comers no meter what.
