How to avoid dropping from safe search with adult content

I know it's based on at least keywords and in-bound link anchors, and for images they do some image recognition. Now the problem is, it's complete traffic killer when you drop of the safe search as other adult sites still continue to be in main index. Users don't either know how to put safe search off or don't care as they still get results.

Now, adult keywords obviously bring a lot of traffic, so you can't completely abandon their either. The question is, how do you keep a fine line between staying in safe search and still use the keywords in a way you continue to rank well?

As far as I'm aware safe search is determined by automatic image filters for nudity, similar to the stuff that does face detection in digital cameras. If you want to rank for adult keyphrases with safe search turned on, you have to use SFW pics (ie clothed / lingerie) along with all your usual keyword / alt tag stuffing.

The adult content is only for images only. Adult content will show even if the safe search is on as long as you are searching the web and not the images.

Google's image recognition is really sophisticated these days, so nude images are going to be difficult to pass through safe search.

I think you could get creative with fruit or something ( .)(. ), have lots of quality links to it, and maybe entice google image viewers with that.
