You have to simply up your calories. Doing these with McDonals or by eating chips is not the right way, besides that these things are really unhealthy, you will still need to eat a lot.
The easiest way: Take shaker, put 500ml of milk in it, 3 scoops of peanutbutter, 8 scoops of oatmeal and some honey. Will taste like semi-shit, drink it in the morning and trust me you WILL gain weight by doing so (I did that and still do this every once in a while), your shake will easily contain something like 700 calories or so (maybe less or more, don't know it exactly anymore). If after 3 weeks you are still not gaining weight, drink it two times a day.
The advantage of that is, that its eay easier to drink it than to eat that much. Its also way healthier than fast food industrial trash, the ingredients are good (milk, oatmeal = complex carbs, peanutbutter = good fats) and it will cost close to nothing (compared to buying junk food).
Also stay away from "weightgainer" supplements (they are the same trash as McDs).
