So I recently came across a keyword with about 18,000 monthly search volume. The result is mostly dominated by Amazon, the product store and a few forums.

Is it possible for a new blog to rank for the same keyword or should I search for another one?

If it's a brand name keyword, just forget it, and you are not going to win...
If it's a buy intend keywords like best xxx, xxx review, it's easy to out rank the Amazon

It's a brand name. The brand store is also top of the result

You should always ask yourself, what is the user intent?

When someone searches for the "brand name", what are they looking for. They are looking for the product. Not a review.

Google very well understands that and will prioritize ranking e-commerce stores that sell the product over a content page that attempts to review the product.

What you're asking isn't simply a matter of "Can I outrank Amazon?", but, "Can I outrank Amazon on a keyword where the user intent is to land on the product page."

The answer is no. If possible, it's extremely hard.

Thanks for this. I think I still need further learning on this buyer intent of a thing
