how often do I submit sitemap to GSC?

OK. Also, I did open up the "raw access" gzip file that got downloaded to my HDD, but it contains gibberish that I don't know how to interpret.

But no problem, anyway. I'm gonna check AWSTATS cause they're easier to read, and it's only out of curiosity anyway because I already found out what I needed to know (ie never submit the sitemap and, optionally, manually crawl the URLs of the new posts... however that can be done)

Well you need to gunzip the file before you read it.

Then it shows you every access to your site, where you'll see googlebot.

Check if its spidering your site correctly. It should be fetching your sitemap at least a few times per week.

I did unzip it, but I think I couldn't understand anything from there because my notepad is fucked up (don't know why) and displays all content on a continuous line instead of putting it on separate lines. And wordpad didn't make it better, either. Oh well, I'll see what I can do...
 
You should not submit your sitemap daily. Instead you can submit on monthly basis moreover you can send social signals when you publish your post and share it all platforms so that you can get some traffic on your blog post.

yeah, someone else already mentioned social media, but the thing is that I hate social media with passion, so I never use it. I'll stick to the traditional way (letting googlebot discover my posts naturally) cause that's what my test is all about anyway (good, unique articles + natural indexing and backlinks... if any).

how do I manually crawl them? It's the googlebot that does the crawling, not me :)

I am doing this and it works perfectly
Step 1 - Log in to GSC
Step 2 - Enter your post's URL in the inspect area or in the search bar in the top
Step 3 - (It will show URL is not on google) click on request indexing it will take a couple of minutes
Step 4 - after it gets done click on the test live URL.
And boom your URL got indexed for me 90% it indexes hand to hand and in 10% cases it take 1 hour to get index

noice! Thanks for the tip. Gonna do this with 3 URLs I've noticed are not indexed :D

This is what I always do. Infact I got one post indexed today with this method
 
What I always do is to share my post first to the few social media and then I submitt the link manualy for indexing through the GSC
 
Personally have not submitted it (manually) even once since I started my site in may this year. No issues with indexing, I just use the RankMath API for instant indexing that is pretty much it
 
For those wondering, you don't have to submit your sitemap anywhere on google. Google will find your site (if its any good) and index you automatically.

You really only need to submit it when your site first goes live. After that you should try to keep your site map as up to date as possible so that any time Google crawls your site they will have the latest update to your site. Remember that Google looks for the sitemap
