How much would YOU pay for a professional logo?

It would depend on what I'm using the logo for. If I'm using it for a site that I might flip later, or I just need the logo so that the website/blog can "look" professional, then I wouldn't buy a logo for more than $50.

However, if I'm buying the logo for my personal website/branding or for a site that I plan on keeping for a long time, I'm willing to pay a few hundred dollars because I want to create something that's memorable as well as fits into my brand.

If I need a logo for both offline and online, then I'm willing to pay a few hundred dollars too because I need someone that's experienced in logo design for both online and print (offline).

It seems like the OP posted this thread so that he could get an idea of what to charge, if that's the case, I would probably promote my logo services away from the IM market, it's already saturated plus you'll be able to charge higher prices.

I've bought logos in the past on Fiverr. I usually get rubbish logos of someone who just downloaded a jpeg and Powerpointed a Wordart onto it with my text.
So, in those terms you get what you pay for.

If I'm in the market for something a bit nicer, I usually post a contest on DP. That way I get a number of of different designs to choose from, and it usually doesn't come to more than $20.
Again, if your main clientelle is stingy webmasters that don't have that much money, you're not going to hit much higher than $100. If it's an established company, you can even get up to $500 or $1,000.

I read in the Steve Jobs book that he paid this douchebag $100,000 to design the logo for his company "Next". I took a look at the logo and it's absolutely rubbish in my opionion :P

well depends on your work and the requirements.. people do cost alot as well and other people are willing to pay cause its something thats going to represent you.

Ive spent up to $600 myself, but I have had clients pay up to $1000 for vector logo before....that was for a large homebuilder back in 2006. I do have an interest in a graphics company....and we do alot of professional services logos...average we charge is probably $300.

Knowing that i can use fiverr i would pay 5$ lol jk

But ive sold to some local business upwards of 350 with free revisions

Do you guys recommend:

- Charging by the hour
- Charging by the logo, and offering x revisions within that price
- Charging by the logo, and offering x revisions at x cost per revision
- Other?

Have paid 750+ for one in serious businesses. Might pay more depending on business and the willingness of the designer to completely throw out multiple designs.

Very professional designs. And, you will have some competition from the mass marketers who charge $5.00. Just refuse to compete with those people as they can never provide these results for such a cheap price. Just so you know, I'd charge $200 minimum for those results if it were me doing the work. Just up to you though as to what you think your product is worth.

I think its depend on your design and on your services. I am also a logo designer and design logos free of cost.

The maximum I have spent for a logo, for one of my personal websites, was $100.

However, you can get some really nice looking logos for around $15-20.
what exactly does really nice mean... and from where can i purchase these.

Just look around the internet, or even on this forum there are a lot of people that sell them.

I could even make you one.

My girlfriend is a graphic designer and can make pretty much any type of logos, and she wouldn't ever charge more then a 100$ for it, so if anyone's interested give me a shout and i'll see what we can do.

100$ is a reasonable cost for a logo.
I usually get Coporate Identity Kits done from 150-250$ and that includes logo, letterhead, envelope, business cards.
