How much would a site like Seomoz will cost?

Dude, for 8K you can do wonders, trust me, Elance providers will beg you to to do awesoem stuff for 5K.

I`m not trying to compete with seomoz. I`m surely years/decades away from them.

I had someone on freelancer saying that for 5k they will do more then seomoz has but I prefer to have someone to talk to everyday and receive support.
I found a company. They are serious and I saw some past projects, Big projects. So the money should be enough now the only problem as they said would be the hosting for my site.

If you are planning to index the web, like they do for their backlinks analysis tools, it will cost you in the millions range.

Better pay for their api access, and try to replicate some of the easiest features - like serp tracking feature, that is relatively easy, you can do that in 8k, on page optimization and analise feature, that is also easy, etc..

PS: SEOMOZ got 18 millions $ in VC funding. If you think you there is a change you can replicate what they have with 8k, you are delusional.

But a small seo software company, doing easy things in the beginning, you can start that with 8k.

What did the developers promise you for 8k?

Check your developer team. Have they done something like this?

Developing search engine crawler, with massive data, require experts in a wide range of topics, namely: database, coding, server, load balancing, etc. to name a few. Each of them could cost you six figure in salary per year.

Creating scripts that do what SEOMoz does is easy, but doing it in a matter that allows you to scale and could work flawlessly under heavy load is another thing.

I hate if this sounds as discouragement. Countless people give up their dreams every day because they listen to others who don't know what they talk about. I may not know you, your experience, etc., and I might be wrong... but from your questions, answers, etc. I sense you need more "real" information.

New projects always sound exciting, but please do your due diligence.

Don't waste your money, which developer can do all those stuff for $5k or $8k ? If anyone step forward to do all those stuffs for cheaper price, then just think why not they can develop by its own.. So my advice is go with some reputed companies by checking their previous designs, sites, blah blah..

Hi again. The company is named siveco. Siveco.ro . I'm waiting for our next meeting on the second of january so they can tell me what would be a more cost effective sollution. Using api from seomoz or create it. They built a lot of impresive stuff so they can do it. We need to settle all the details before the designers finish.
