Are you doing White Hat SEO or Black Hat Seo?

White Hat SEO is the opposite of Black Hat SEO. Generally, White Hat SEO refers to any practice that improves your search performance on a search engine results page (SERP )while maintaining the integrity of your website and staying within the search engines' terms of service. These tactics stay within the bounds as defined by Google.

Examples include:

Offering quality content and services
Using descriptive, keyword-rich meta tags
Making your site easy to navigate

Personally, I don't know of any.

We are talking about SEO so, you want to get traffic from any of the SEs, I suppose from Google. To get traffic from SEs you need to rank. There are loads of ranking factors and one of the majors ones is definitely high quality links. So, in order to rank for profitable terms (and I suppose your final aim is to make money so you should go for such terms), you will most probably need link building -> Blackhat.

The three things you have mentioned in your post will not increase the number of visitors to your site. Not directly anyway. They are important (except the meta tags I believe) but they are important once you already have visitors. So they are important for visitors who have already got to your site, they won't increase the number of your visitors, they will improve the quality of your site.

The only white hat thing about seo is on-page optimization.. everything else to get higher rankings is considered black hat in the eyes of Google and just on-page seo won't get you anywhere.. just my 2 cents

On-page SEO alone can get you top #10 for any keyword given your website is a major one like vougue.com

Black Hat is spammy and cheap, White Hat is quality. White hat can be automated and you can use GSA,Scrapebox and other programs for white hat seo.

The way google is coming with new algos, most popular SEO techniques are already redundant. Latest algo of RankBrain is cutting down major chunks of SEO norms. I see in future that SEO will not really matter as it was someday.
