How much commission should I get for making SEO'd business sites?

I've been in contact with owners of 4 small businesses in my country. Venezuela is a dead market, which means easy Search Engine ranks and visibility, but little cash flow. Their sites are useless and shitty. I can get them 100x more traffic.

I told them I can SEO them and make them have an Internet Presence in exchange for commission on the sales made through their sites. They were eager. I'm not as eager because there's little money flow in Venezuela. However, my personal budget is $0. Piggybacking off them will give me their marketing budget to hire Copywriters, Facebook Ads and assistants to post links everywhere and run the social networks.

The biz owners know their fields, but nothing about marketing or running a business profitably. I promote myself as an "SEO & marketing expert". I'd rework their business model to make more profit. I don't have a portfolio, though, and I'm starting.
  • What leverage do I have as a noob?
  • What should I ask them to give me as my profit from this?
  • Is sales commission the best model available? I don't think I could convince them to give me a % of their biz ownership. Not yet at least, without a portfolio. (And how much commission can I ask for? I'm talking 1x $3k deal every 2-5 months right now, potentially more if I make their biz grow).
  • And most importantly, in your experience, is this viable or should I look elsewhere?

I was starting an Affiliate marketing blog when this opportunity hit me. I'm evaluating whether I should abandon that and start this, or whether I should stay with what I started. Everything depends on the answers I get for these questions I asked. (I have 0 results for my current project because I started a week ago)
