How long should I give my site before calling it a day?

Hi all,

Looking for some advice about my amazon associate niche site.

I have a niche site within the home decor niche - the site is now over 1 year old... but it is just not ranking well for anything with zero sales on Amazon!

I have got plenty of good, long form content on the site, targeting low competition keywords and all well optimised. They are a mix of "best xxxx" posts, info posts and single product reviews. I try to add at least 3 new articles a month.

I have checked Google search console for any errors or penalties, but nothing.

I am at a bit of a loss ... I am getting maybe 3 visitors a day maximum, but just have no idea why my rankings aren't increasing.

I have purchased a couple of guest post and PBN links and sent these to the homepage mainly using my site name as the anchor text.

I am getting to the point of wondering whether it is worth continuing to invest time and money into the site, when I haven't sold a single item on Amazon!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

You pointed all links to your site's homepage? wow.

Have you checked all your onpage ?

Is it worth getting a site audit done?

Another thing is have you checked your Amazon links ?

Yes, onpage is fine - I am quite particular about this.

No ... not thought of an audit actually - any recommendations?

Yes Amazon links are also fine, I just have no traffic to my site in order for people to even click the links :D

First thing, no one is selling great links on bhw (not in public atleast). Maybe the issue is with your keywords. Can you shed light on the process of selecting your low competition keyword. Is it possible that you miscalculated volume? Are you tracking site rank?

@LukaB might be a guy to speak to about this possibly, off the top of my head.

I'm at the fcking same situation!!! And on the same niche as well. Can't seem to rank.

I think it's because we are targeting a lot of different keywords and we can't focus in one. And maybe our silo is bad

My site is 6-7 months old. 30K published words and I only made 2 sales and I get like 4-5 visitors on my lucky days. Usually 0 on normal days.

I'm thinking on buying a new domain and only focus on one product and have the article on my homepage and then make a few info posts as well.

I think all you need is to hire an seo audit service and getting some good links with your primary keywords as anchor texts. You may find some good seo audit services from fiverr (only if you want it to be done for dirt cheap price).

Initially I was targeting too competitive keywords, so when I realised this, I moved onto using the keyword golden ratio (not sure if you have heard of it), but basically it is a calculation to find really low competition keywords.

I'm very tempted too ... just very disheartening when I have put a lot of time and effort into this site.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but 3 articles per month won't cut it, and let alone a few links to the homepage. You are doing it all wrong. Try writing at least 10 - 15 articles per month with a mixer of PBN, WEB 2.0's bookmarking sites, social sharing and comments. Atleast this works for me.

My new site is only 1 month old and I already published about 20 000 words ranking ok for a 30 day old site.

The unfortunate truth is, driving organic traffic to an affiliate website is extremely difficult. The amount of content and external SEO needed is time consuming and costly. You are far better off looking into paid advertising methods to bring in traffic.

You have low competition keyword, you keep adding fresh content, 1 year and still not ranking. I am getting bad feeling about your golden ratio rocket science. If you need help from us, we need something to chew on. Give us some numbers

SEO is just not worth competing if you don't have:
1) a decent budget to get a lot of links
2) an advantage in research (both keyword research and buying links)
3) write content yourself or have $ for a ton of affiliate content

There are easier ways to make money, freelancing - selling shoutouts are the easiest.

There are too many ups and downs, barrier to entry for SEO and rule changes.

Your issue is likely just lack of links and content onsite. Homepage does push up your overall - but links that you want to go up, should be linked first for a faster ROI.

I keep my sites niched, cornerstone content is all on the home page - rank for high volume searches aff terms first then worry about the rest

Start targeting social media. Social shares will help your content get indexed, and will also help drive more traffic to your site until organic traffic picks up. Keep writing content

I think its been a slow past couple months for ecommerce, I havent had much success with anything lately no matter how hard I try or how much time i dump into my businesses

And if you take the hit and send paid broad and broad modified search traffic the search engines will give up exactly what you need to tweak your content.
