I am having extreme difficulty ranking in google after about 2 years of learning almost everything about SEO. The first mistake I made was duplicate content, I then created a brand new website and moved old domain to the new website, my content is now original, I use semantic keywords, my on page SEO is all green bullets on Yoast SEO, I use webmaster tools and have no issues/404's, my site is fast and yet I only get about 20 views a day.. if that! I am so fed up. I have recently discovered that my custom post type taxonomies may have created duplicate content and i have excluded them in my sitemap, most of my pages are indexed but still... no luck. Any suggestions, please? I am desperate.

You can find a lot of long tail keywords in order to improve your ranking and get organic traffic :)

Loads more unique content, at the end of the day it depends on your competition too as to how quick and easy to get ranking onto the top pages.

If your niche is mega competitive it takes longer.

it takes a long time, and within that time those links may become useless or obsolete.
like frank mentioned, while you rank med/high comp kws, find some low comp keywords to rank in, get in some views.
they will be much easier to rank.
Secure #1 spots on them, infact, go secure #1 spots in as many low comp long tailed kw relevant to your website.
never just focus on "main keywords" or 1 high comp keyword.
    Be diverse and unique

Pretty much what everyone else said. However, before you made the website, did you see how many searches you had for your keywords? What's your ranking on them?

Just concentrate on adding more content targeting long tail keywords and the views will come

SEO is always the most important channel in general Digital marketing. This will help you in your long term online campaign and drive organic traffic to your website, I think you need to prepare a good plan and budget on it. Doing SEO is not a thing that getting result instantly, in many cases it will take you 6 months - 12 months or even more to see the acceptable result.

    Good luck to you,

Bro, First of all, SEO is hard.
at least need 2~3 months to reflect rank changes
Second, off page SEO is the key to your ranking! Original content is needed, and H.Q backlinks is more important.
But, now it is really hard to get qualified backlinks from others, that is way many seoers are bulidling their own blogs sites to point to their money site.

The website term is searched fairly often. I find that long tail keywords don't sound natural in my content category and I use semantic keywords mostly. Is exact phrase/keyword still relevant???

Ahrefs stats say objectively 4 months, but in my opinion, that's because 99% wannabe SEO-s objectively suck(and the information around BHW sucks even worse, due to everybody advertising their services and BHW being more moderated than Obama's twitter).

As a case study it took me 4 days to rank a medium comp keyword to the first page on a fresh domain.
