TLD and domain types can affect the effectiveness of click-through campaigns, but the significance may not be great. I think the most important thing is still the advertising content and how you reach the target audience

I tried many domains and didnt notice the difference, but then again a friend told me .com domains are the best or have the highest authority for some reason.

TLD can have some impact, but it's not the most crucial factor. A familiar TLD like .com can be seen as more trustworthy and established compared to newer ones like .xyz.
