I had no previous banner/sidebar image. I'd love if others added their experience with sidebars and share what have/haven't worked for them. I haven't really experimented with colors either but I use ones that stick out but still match the color scheme of my website.Nice share, as we can see that you dont need fancy things to achieve success. Sometimes the less is more.
Are you doing A/B testing too? You said you increased the CTR, could you share what was the banner before, and it would help to understand, why this banner works for you if you shared the website on that you use this banner.
You can easily get a quick-link to the best seller (or another one that you think is the best one) and add it to the click-through link in the plugin I suggested. It's just like linking to any other product really!interesting, kind of new to amazon, is there some simple way to actually link to best whatever of 2015? I'd like to link to specifically top selling xbox one games for a site i have. Is that something easily done?

You seem to becoming better and better with Amazon, keep up the good work. Oh, an yeah, PS for just a button is an overkill, there are many websites that will allow you to do that in minutes.
So you made a sidebar banner for amazon when amazon gives you dynamic, self updating side bar banners anyway. not sure why you don't just add a amazon 300x250 banner to your sidebar with the text widget. BTW you can add images to a sidebar without a plugin using the text widget, one less plugin being used. Just an after thought, you can use autoazon and add self updating popup sidebar banners that match your content without doing any hard work
