It varies. I will spend as much as $1k per domain and as little as $20 for others. Generally my average range is between $100-600. It takes time to get an idea of what a site will go for. To start I would just get used to the price range of $20-100 a domain. There is plenty of good stuff in that range.

For new domains I make them similar to the topic of my money site. I then link from the same exact topic article to another article of the exact same topic. Simple as that.

Thank you for answering my questions, great idea with trying to combine the original topic of site with topic of your niche, I never thought about this that way.

One more technical question:

Do you use seo hosting or host every domain on separate hosting ? I'm asking it because I was reading some people's seo hosting reviews and they claim seo hosting is not the way you want to go if you wanna stay safe. So I was wondering if I should decide on seo hosting, or it's better to invest more money in separate hosting providers.

thanks for the reply. I just went ahead and bid on 10 domains ranging from $50-$500 just dove right in let's see what happens lol.

Also for the second question I meant how do you, or do you even build links to the new domains that are in the niche? do you link a PR domain link to the domain? or do you use SEO service type packages and use that related site as a type of buffer site also?

I do not build links to these sites. You could do that lightly, but with very strong domains you don't need too. I would recommend staying away from sending tons of links to your personal network sites simply because then you start creating footprints if you go overboard with it.

It can be a little costly, but well worth the investment. Just start small and keep working your way up slowly. Try to use some of the networks on BHW to build a churn and burn site that makes money, then sell it and use that money to invest in your own private network.

I noticed that it really helps to build a PBN in the same geo as your market. For example, you could build a small private blog network with just .fr TLDs for an affiliate site in France. You can check ahrefs and if 30% of the referring domains are coming from France and you have 10 quality .fr sites in your PBN that are relevant to your .fr affiliate site then this can easily give you a competitive advantage.
 
Part 2 - Finding and Setting Up Hosting for Your Private Network

Alright so I said I would follow up with a post about hosting for you guys. The last few days have been crazy with a few personal issues. Not gonna get into that though. This is about setting up a private network.

There is a lot of debate on what the best method is to set up hosting for a network. Some people say use a SEO hosting company. In the past I used that method and had no issues. I won't argue that. All I am going to do is tell you how I do it because I believe it is safer and gives more diversity.

Hosting costs money no matter how you look at it. The best way to find cheap hosting is to look on the threads of this forum, and you can also go to WebHostingTalk and look under their "Shared hosting offers" page. If you look close enough you can find plenty of offers where you can get hosting for $1-3 per month. This is the price range I try to stay in. I also generally get hosting plans that give me a few addon domains or unlimited addons for the plan.

The reason I want addons is because I generally will add 2-3 sites per IP and use them to target other Niches I work. When you get hosting you can usually pay month to month or yearly which comes out to be a cheaper monthly rate. I always check the hosting company I sign up with to see how long they have been in business. I check their whois to see how old their domain is as well to confirm that.

I usually don't use private nameservers but use the ones I am given by the host. In various cases where you make edits to DNS and use private nameservers or change other things around, you can run into issues if your host decides to migrate you to another server.

I know this is a short post, but I will follow up with how to setup the sites in the next post. If you have questions just post them here. If you have anything of a personal nature just PM me and I will do my best to get back with you.

Definitely second that advice about using the hosting companies nameservers. I got burned big time once when my provider migrated my sites to a new server and all my sites stopped resolving.

Hosting issues are definitely annoying to deal with, especially when you are dealing with 100 of them.

You can do it. Start small and work your way up.

Really loving this Voidray. When I was reading about setting up a 2.0 blog network a while back I considered doing it this way instead and am glad you have shone a light into this way.
In relation to hosting, what sort of hosting would you recommend for a money site that has my own original content on it? The digital downloads would be anything from 10mb to 500mb. This would be a site that I would want to have for a long time, hence wanting to surround it with a private network as shown by yourself here.

As far as network hosting it isn't a big deal if there is a small amount of downtime here or there once in a while. For money sites though you want to make sure you have good hosting and good support. I am switching a lot of my stuff from Hostgator since they have been sold. I knew Brent Oxley when he owned the company and he made sure things ran well. Now though things seem to be slipping through the cracks. One host who I haven't had issues with and has great support has been Hawkhost. Another company you might try out is Hostnine. You could probably get by with a shared host for most of what you need. A VPS never hurts though, and that might be a better option if you have a lot of daily downloads from your site.

I have a couple of questions though as I have been setting up websites for about a month now and haven't seen any results.

1. If my websites were affected by Penguin 2.1 can the high quality websites linking to them bring them back up to page 1?

2. I have purchased hosting on popular hosting sites and added 4-6 domains for each account, all in different niches though linking to different sites. Is this too many sites on one host?

3. How many links from your quality sites does it take to start noticing an increase in rankings? So far my main sites have about 5-6 links and the rankings haven't moved.

Good questions. Hope I am understanding them properly.

1. If your money site was affected by Penguin, you are wondering if links from your network can bring them back. A handful of links from your network will not bring them back.

2. Having 4-6 accounts is not a problem if they are each serving a unique purpose for different money sites. You should be perfectly fine.

3. Seeing movement depends on a lot of factors. Level of difficulty with competition. How strong and relevant your network sites are. I can tell you with very strong sites in your network 4-5 links can have a drastic impact, but once again this depends much on the strength of the domain providing the link and so forth.
