How does the Instagram Verification Process Work?

I'm just curious how people get the blue check mark, and what the process is like on the other side. I keep getting messages from some guy trying to sell me Instagram verification, saying he knows a guy and posts screenshots. So I was curious how legit any of this is, if there are people who know people at Instagram that can get verification, and what that looks like. The screenshots he sent made it look like it was some kind of Facebook tool that they go and click something that turns it on, but I have no idea so I was just wondering how it works or how to find a legit connection at Instagram that can do it. Any info would be appreciated, I'm kind of intrigued by the whole thing and would like to learn more.

I know, I’m pretty sure he’s scamming, but it got me wondering what the process actually looks like, that way it’s easy to know for sure. And also I just wonder how legit people get connections at Instagram/Facebook in order to do this in the first place. And I’m new to this I guess, but I don’t know what “Inspect Element” means. I mean, I can kind of guess what I think it means, but I don’t know how it applies here. Rather than sound stupid, I’ll just ask so I know exactly what you’re talking about lol. Thanks

And that’s how they all are, they’re just middlemen cause I guess an actual employee going out looking for people is risking his job so he has a friend do it for him, I’m not sure but from what I’ve read on the subject, that’s how the market usually goes.

But that doesn’t mean he’s responsible for verifying them. He showed me some other accounts, but they were somewhat famous people. I only showed these because it showed this page I’d never seen before and was curious if anyone know what the verification tool on their end looks Iike.
 
1. You need to submit the documents and request to fb.
2. You should have some press / media /internet coverage
3. Legit companies boost your press and media coverage thus increasing your chances for acceptance before submitting the request.
4. There are lot of sellers in marketplace who do this too

Inspect element is to change how a webpage looks by tinkering with the HTML. Since the “proof” is basically a photo of a webpage on a screen, it could easily be faked.

As for your other question, I can’t help with making connections as that comes with being in the industry and networking.

This is an entirely different situation. The account looks it doesn't deserve the vertification but still got it anyways

This. I know a girl on local news who has the blue check and she's got way less followers than me. Also they gave it to her personal account and not her public facing work account so that's odd but good for her should she switch jobs.
 
I remember that back in the day getting a blue check (as a non-celebrity) , involved creating fake accounts “immitating” the account that you were trying to get verified.
The process was long and tedious, you had to report those accounts to instagram (which you created yourself) hoping that they would verify your main account.
Haven’t tested this myself, I’ve read about this “strategy” on a forum a few years ago,therefore I can’t confirm if it works or if it ever worked.

I thought about that, but I know some hot girls that have actually had fake accounts made posing as them to scam dudes out of money and it didn’t get them a blue check mark, of course it was only one so that’s not really proof.

Well I got the guy to send me a message on Twitter with a verified account, so he could be legit, but then again, I’ve heard Twitter verification is much easier than Instagram, apparently Instagram is the most elite of all verifications.

There are sellers on the BHW marketplace offering verifications. I’d say I trust them more than someone I haven’t the faintest clue of.

I do get messages telling me my page qualifies for verification bla bla bla. But I know they're scammers, so I don't pay attention. I just delete the message or email.
 
I think there is a media panel available to big spenders including PR agencies on Facebook. They can directly contact Facebook staff and present a case asking verification for any entity.

As I mentioned, the process was very long (6months-18months).
Besides more credibility on the platform, I don't really see getting a blue check as something special.
