How does Google know content is good or bad?

1. Visitor Activities: Google Analytics tracks things like Entrances, Bounce Rate, and % Exit to show how many visitors find your content helpful. Most visitors just grab what they need and leave, often not coming back. If you offer engaging content, they might stick around and explore more.
2. Engaged Traffic: This feature of Google Analytics measures how long visitors stay on your site. It helps you see what's working and what isn't. For example, if a page has a 90% exit rate, it means people aren't finding it interesting enough to stay.
3. Visitor Frequency: The type of content you post affects how often people come back to your site.

Google doesn't really judge if your content is good or bad, but it helps you see if it's useful to people.

As I have checked your concern regarding the content and I would like to tell you that Google evaluates content quality based on several factors, including relevance, originality, and user engagement.

And the uses algorithms to assess how well content answers user queries, the expertise and authority of the source, and how users interact with the content. The High-quality content typically matches search intent, provides value, and is well-researched and well-written.

Google determines content quality using factors like relevance, originality, user engagement metrics, E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness), technical aspects, and backlinks. These elements help Google assess if content is good or bad for ranking purposes.

Google rate our content by using their algorithm. And yeah Backlinks are important but while considering ranking factors google also consider about user experience. On page optimization bounce rate etc.. If your content is not good then bounce rate will increase.
It will reduce your ranking though you have build good quality backlinks.
Once you pass all the requirements your site will get good rank. So don't try to rank only by backlinks also consider about content and on page SEO if you want long term success!

Here is the process called Quality Raters to check your content is good or not , of course nowadays the backlinks can overcome the content quality by it's strong metrics and standard. But without content quality even you get high backlinks there is chance for down your rank at anytime badly.

First thing, to keep your content relevant cause if not there won't be visitors increase and that impacts organic results. Even though you did better search on keywords while preparing articles it has to be unique and relevant and Google consider them based on certain factors that shows visitors the quality and keep them on top leads to better results.

If your websites have low bounce rate, then your site has good contents which engages your user and make them stay in your site.

Google uses backlinks, content analysis and user signals to evaluate and rank content, though it's not foolproof against low-quality content with strong backlinks.

Merely generating high-quality content is insufficient. Google evaluates both individual web pages and the overall website to assess the quality of the content. User experience (UX) is highly regarded by Google and is incorporated as a ranking determinant. Therefore, search engine optimization (SEO) practitioners should prioritize the enhancement of their website's user experience to augment their content.

Quality content versus the almighty backlinks. It’s like the battle between a great script and a blockbuster budget. But how does Google decide what gets the star treatment?

Suppose Google as a super-sleuth detective, magnifying glass in hand, examining every corner of your content. Google’s algorithm isn’t just a binary machine—it’s more like a high-tech brain that’s constantly learning and evolving. Here’s how it cracks the case:

  1. Crawlers and Indexing: Google’s web crawlers are like nosy neighbors, always peeking into new web pages. They scan your content and index it, which means they jot down everything they find. If your article is about how to bake the perfect chocolate cake, Google's crawlers will record every detail, from "sift the flour" to "don't forget the chocolate chips."

  2. Content Quality Signals: Google uses over 200 factors to assess content quality. These include:
    • Expertise and Authority: Is your content written by someone who knows their stuff? If your article is about SEO, Google wants to see if you're an SEO whiz or just someone who read a few blog posts.

    • User Experience: How long do people stay on your page? If visitors are bouncing faster than a kangaroo on a trampoline, Google might think your content isn’t very engaging.

    • Engagement Metrics: Comments, shares, and likes can be like gold stars for Google. If people are interacting with your content, it’s a sign that your stuff might actually be worth a read.

How Does Google Spot False Information?

Ah, the perennial struggle: factual accuracy versus clickbait. Google’s detective agency is quite adept at spotting the difference:

  1. Content Analysis: Google’s algorithms use Natural Language Processing (NLP) to understand the context and semantics of your content. It’s like having a super-smart friend who reads between the lines. If your article says the Earth is flat, Google's going to raise an eyebrow (and probably flag it).

  2. Fact-Checking and Trustworthiness: Google looks at how credible your sources are. If you’re quoting from a reliable, well-known source, that’s a big plus. On the other hand, if your facts come from "SomeDudeOnTheInternet.com," don’t be surprised if your article doesn’t rank too well.

  3. Back link Quality: While backlinks are important, Google isn’t fooled by a sheer quantity of links. They look at the quality and relevance of the linking sites. A high-quality link from a respected site is worth more than ten links from random blogs.

Why Bad Content Sometimes Ranks

Let’s face it, the SEO world isn’t perfect. Sometimes, even the shoddiest content can climb the ranks if it has:

  • Powerful Backlinks: If a site has a ton of high-quality backlinks, Google might rank it higher despite the content’s quality.

  • Keyword Stuffing: Overused keywords can sometimes trick algorithms into thinking content is relevant. It’s like shouting "FREE PIZZA" to get attention, even if there’s no pizza to be found.

Google assesses content quality by analyzing relevance, user engagement, and credibility through algorithms and quality raters. Backlinks alone aren't enough; content must also meet quality standards.

Google doesn't know that's why they have content raters who would manually open website pages and rate them. These are actual human beings rating the contents that rank/appear on Google.

Of course, there may be a few things Google automatically use to compare your content with those already ranking, some of them may provide a hint to Google that a post is good or bad, but for the ultimate hit, Google uses content raters.
I don't think this is correct. I think all of this is done based on an algorithm. Way cheaper than manually checking the billions of sites that there are out there.

It is very important for visitors to review the time they spend on your site, the frequency of entering your site and their other content. Google pays attention to these

Google uses algorithms that analyze various signals to determine content quality, such as relevance, user engagement, and backlinks.

I think these are usually the factors I assume
by Relevance and Intent, Quality and Depth, User Engagement Signals, Technical Quality.

Well, it's a fact that they indeed have actual humans rating websites and their content. Unless this program has been discontinued but as at last year they did.

I have conducted many tests. I tried writing articles using AI, writing them myself quickly, and writing them very carefully. However,

I couldn't find the definitive answer. No one knows the exact answer.

The way to verify this is to post the same content twice: one article written by AI and one article written by myself. If you're lucky, it will get exposure.

A skilled SEO professional will write articles in their own way that ensures exposure.

Writing content is about matching the tagline, followed by optimization and basic on-page SEO. More importantly, off-page SEO is crucial.

Google determines content quality using algorithms, machine learning, user feedback, and human reviewers. They assess factors like relevance, credibility, and user engagement to decide if content is good or bad.

People always said "Just build quality content and you will rank, because Google like good content", how does Google know? How can they tell if my article is full with facts or just false infomations.

Why am I asking this? Because during my time doing SEO, I see full of shitty content ranks for high volume keywords just because the site has a lot of powerful backlinks.
Well they mostly know, but when they encounted yours they contact me and ask for help. Then I help them determine if we all like your content or not really, we didn't want to tell you sorry.

Stop spreading bullshit....manual rating it's impossible because the web is huge....they barely have resources to crawl the web and keep up with its expansion....they only manual rate websites flagged for child pornography and some high risk niches like politics and elections, pharma, loans etc.
