People always said "Just build quality content and you will rank, because Google like good content", how does Google know? How can they tell if my article is full with facts or just false infomations.

Why am I asking this? Because during my time doing SEO, I see full of shitty content ranks for high volume keywords just because the site has a lot of powerful backlinks.

Google doesn't know that's why they have content raters who would manually open website pages and rate them. These are actual human beings rating the contents that rank/appear on Google.

Of course, there may be a few things Google automatically use to compare your content with those already ranking, some of them may provide a hint to Google that a post is good or bad, but for the ultimate hit, Google uses content raters.

Google uses several methods to determine content quality.

Their algorithms check for relevance, readability, keyword usage, grammar, structure, etc, one of the most important "signals" is the 'user engagement metrics' like bounce rates and visit times.

They will always prioritize content showing quality, authority, and trustworthiness.

Also, AI nowadays and human reviewers detect false information and low-quality content.

Will backlinks help? Well, backlinks help, but Google looks at their quality also and relevance too.

Anyway, sometimes, as we all know and we all have seen it, sometimes some low-quality content might rank with strong backlinks, I will always back up and vouch for a focus on quality content with good SEO is the best long-term strategy.

with milions of website and thousands of new articles every day, I dont think thay have enough human workers to rate the content manually.

They don't need to review every website.

Only those that make it to certain positions particularly for the main keyword. If a page is ranking for multiple keywords, a downvote for one of such keywords would mean it'll be deranked from the rest other keywords.

Other factures would be there to push the site to the point where the human reviewers would take charge.

The use of human reviewers is actually not conspiracy, it's a fact.

Have you ever heard of "Quality Raters"?

I can not explain everything in detail cause, for that, I would need two days of writing, anyway...

Google has thousands of Quality Raters, they are just one small "manual part" of a much larger system.

The machinery behind it, including algorithms and automated systems, is far more bigger.

Google ranks content based on quality, backlinks and user behavior. High-quality content is important, but backlinks and user engagement also significantly impact rankings. This explains why low-quality content can sometimes outrank better content.

Google algorithm uses content relevancy, topic optimation, keyword optimization, user experience, loading speed, backlink quality, anchor optimization, content structure, etc to determine the quality of the content.

BY using E-E-A-T, google understand content and it's quality. But sometimes Due to authority site backlinking content quality got compromised.

Google Understand Content through EEAT. Try to make content more informative to help google to rank your site.

I think it's all about backlinks, keywords and domain authority. My site https://santolex.com has crumbled for three years just because I didn't know how build backlinks and create content with keywords that have traffic.

Thanks for the new information, I will research more about this

As far as I know correctly, Google defines quality by relevance, originality and user engagement.

Google evaluates the quality of content using a mix of machine learning and algorithms. They assess things like user engagement, relevance, and factual accuracy. Google's algorithms take user reviews and the depth of the content into account in addition to backlinks. High-quality content usually ranks higher because it complies with search algorithms and user intent.

If you want to know more about "Quality Raters" you can read this guideline from Google

Google determines content quality using various methods including Experience - Expertise -Authority - trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) as well as content analysis, backlinks, user engagement, structured data and user feedback. Despite these efforts, low-quality content can still rank well due to factors like backlink manipulation, algorithm limitations, and competition within specific niches.

As many said , User experience like mobile friendly and page load speed and content that more closely match the search intent is also one of the major factors.
