How does email scraping work?

OK, this is something I have never done before and I am starting on it. I downloaded some email scraper softwares and free trial softwares and I don't get how these things work.

When you scrape a website are you only getting the emails that are already on the webpage or does it reach the database and get anything from behind? that is where I'm confuse also.

I own 5 dating niche and 4 blogs, a couple of clickbank and other affiliate links.

A good email scraper will be able to get all the emails that can be accessed publically. For instance, if people on an online forum make their email address visible in their profile, your email scraper will be able to open up their profile and grab those emails.

Email scrapers cannot access databases. They won't access email addresses that aren't shared with the public. It's not a hacking tool, just a data gathering tool.
