How do you test your future writer

I prefer to first get writing examples, hopefully on the most obscure topic they can provide. If they can take something I've never heard of and explain it properly in a way that will make sense and I'll understand, that means they know what they're doing and know how to get a message across properly.

To test your writers,

You've to let him know your requirements and show him some samples of your 'taste'. The basics like Grammar, Structure and Vocabulary are mandatory. If possible, purchase 3-5 sets of articles from various niches to test on his understanding.

Note: Not every writer is good at all niches but don't doubt him if he is poor at one particular niche.

Peace,
VXS

I'll check a content writer by checking it efficiency and writing skills that no one can ignore.
I will check his/her punctuality and article spinning technique for hiring.

Speak to them on Skype and get them to write 2 or 3 different samples for you.

Look for:

- Good communicator verbally.
- Good spelling and punctuation.
- Able to meet the deadlines.
- Able to tackle a variety of subject matters.
- Professional and friendly manner.

You have to give a task about writing an unique article on a unique topic.
Then, it'll be your turn to check the skills of the writer.

Does he not have a portfolio? Most of the writers ive used had some kind of back-catalogue of content (I use Upwork to find mine)
