How Do You Find and Remove Broken Backlinks?

Fix valuable broken backlinks by recreating or redirecting the page & ignore low quality ones focus on keeping the link value not removing everything

I usually find broken backlinks with Ahrefs or Google Search Console. If a valuable link points to a broken page, I restore the page or set up a relevant 301 redirect instead of simply removing it.
 
I do not fix every broken backlink. I only spend time on the ones that are bringing traffic or have good SEO value.
 
I usually check if the backlink is from a good website. If it is useful, I try to fix it. Otherwise, I just ignore it.
 
I usually start by checking Google Search Console and a backlink tool to find links pointing to pages that return a 404 error. If those backlinks are valuable, I either restore the original page or create a relevant replacement and set up a 301 redirect.

I prefer fixing valuable backlinks first. Low quality broken links are usually not worth spending time on.

I check GSC > Links > Top linking sites first.
For broken backlinks I usually ignore them unless they are spammy.
If spammy, I disavow them in GSC.
If it’s my own broken internal link, I 301 redirect it.
