How Do You Find and Remove Broken Backlinks?

There are well-known backlink tracking sites. I read the rules and, frankly, didn't list them because it might look like advertising. These sites allow you to track everything from broken backlinks to harmful ones. As you know, unfortunately, people use this for "anti-SEO" purposes.

I check my backlink profile with seo tools find links pointing to broken pages then either restore the page or add a proper 301 redirect. It keeps the link value and gives users a better experience.
 
I usually fix broken backlinks when possible by restoring the page or using a relevant redirect If they have no value I simply ignore them

Instead of trying to remove them, the best approach is to fix them on your end. Set up a simple 301Redirection to point that broken URL to a live, relevant page on your site. This ensures you recover that valuable link equity without needing to contact external webmasters. :)
 
I focus on fixing important broken links and creating better pages that can naturally attract new backlinks over time.

My first step is to figure out why the link isn't working. Sometimes a simple redirect can fix the problem, and the link ownership can be maintained without too much effort.

I agree. I'd only try to reclaim the link if it's from a relevant and trustworthy website. If the link has little value or isn't related to the niche, I'd rather spend my time building better quality links instead.

301 redirect if the broken link is on your side simple fix, keeps the equity. If it's broken because the linking site died or got deindexed, ignore it, nothing to salvage there. I don't bother removing backlinks pointing to me since I didn't put them there in the first place
 
It depends on the quality and intentions behind the link. In case it’s a good and relevant one, leading to a dead page, then it should be redirected to the most suitable page via 301 redirection. Otherwise, random links aren’t really worth wasting time on.

If the broken link points to a useful page, I try to restore or redirect it. There is no reason to waste a backlink that can still send relevant visitors.
 
I first check if the broken backlink is still valuable. If the website is relevant and trusted, I try to recover that link instead of ignoring it.
 
Fix valuable broken backlinks by recreating or redirecting the page & ignore or disavow low quality ones focus on recovering link value not removing everything
 
It depends on the backlink if it is from a valuable source I d try to restore or redirect the page for low value links I usually leave them unless they cause a real issue

If the broken link page have quality content, traffic and performing keyword of your site then you should fix it by doing redirect
 
If they aren't causing real problems like appearing in brand searches then i let them be.
If a backlink points to a page that no longer exists, I either restore the page or create a 301 redirect to the most relevant page on my site so I don't lose the link value.
If it's just a low-quality broken link, I normally ignore it. My focus is on fixing valuable backlinks first.
 
I usually fix them first. If the content exists elsewhere, I restore the page or put a relevant 301 redirect.

If it's an incorrect external link, I let the owner know so they can fix it. I leave alone links that don't have SEO value.

Have you seen better results with restoration of the original page or 301 redirects to relevant pages?
