How do you decide article length for SEO now?

Some SEOs say 1,000 words max, others go for 3,000+. What length gives you the best ranking results lately?
imo word count is just a product of the proper discusion on the topic. I usually see what is ranking and try to fill some gap while writing enough to addres the search intent.

Around 1000 to 1500 words is enough for many topics. If the subject needs more detail, then making it longer makes sense.

I have stopped focusing on a fixed word count. I first look at the current search results identify what other articles are missing and then build something more helpful. The final length simply depends on how much information the topic actually needs.

to be vry honest i am not trying to adhere for any specific word limit anymore. If the question is answered in 700 words then i will not change that. However if the same question requires 3,000 words then it is okay with me too.

I don't target a fixed word count write until the topic is fully covered without adding filler sometimes that's 1,000 words sometimes 3,000+. Search intent and content quality matter more than hitting a specific length.

You should really see what competitors use for content as lenght and how peoples react to content if they bounce the views or not that is an important metrics

1000+ words can also give best results if quality is good. Otherwise most of the time longer content

The serp normally sets the general ball park although i does not replicate the average words count. For instance if the answer to the question takes 2500 words there may be room for 1200.

Nothing magical really, but I’ve had good result's from updating old content based on actual search intent and adding stronger internal links. Small improvement's across existing pages can add up nicely.

content length depend on the niche page, this include plagiarism and copyscape pass from other pages reference which can be rewrite with summarize with actual meaning on other pages content in replica niche expose.

A good article is not about hitting a word count, but in most cases, around 1,000 to 1,500 words works well if the content fully answers the reader’s question.
