Honestly, just cover the topic fully. Some need 1K words, some 3K+, Whatever answers the Searcher's questions best.

It really depends on the topic, but articles between 1,500 and 2,500 words tend to rank well when they are in depth and provide real value to readers.

Why don't you look at your competitors? Try to give more that they provide. Thats the simplest and easiest rules out there.

It’s not about word count, it’s about value. A well-optimized 1k post that answers everything clearly can beat a 3k filler article any day.

Check top 20 articles which is already ranking and just analyze what's working for them.
 
Sometimes, focused content that answers specific questions concisely can outperform longer articles context and intent are key.
 
Stretching an article just to have more chances at getting ranked is the wrong way imo. With reduced attention spans, gotta give to the point information. 1000 words is still the sweet spot.

Structuring the article is also important, making it easily readable. If you provide a wall of text for your readers, then nobody wants to read it.

1000 is less as per current standards. However, there is nothing compulsory here . In some niches, you can rank with shorter content also.
 
There's no perfect word count anymore - it really depends on the topic. Short articles around 800-1,200 words work for quick answers, while long guides of 2,000-3,000+ words are better for detailed topics. The key is to fully cover what readers are looking for and make the content easy to read, rather than aiming for a specific number of words.
 
My best results come from medium-length posts ( 1200-1800 words ) with solid internal linking.
