I know I'll tell you the obvious, but your problem is rather obvious. You lack self confidence, and as long as you don't get more confidence on yourself and your ability to talk to girls, you'll never solve your problem.
How to do that? It's not easy I'll tell you, you have to try everyday to be more and more confident, you have to think that if you can do other stuff without being shy, why are you shy about girls? Girls are just one other thing in life, what is the worse that they can do to you? Laugh at you, give you a slap on the face? Big fuckin' deal! But if you try to talk to them in a nice and respectful way, they won't do anything bad to you, they won't byte you(unless you want them to

) so stay confidence and positive, and all will go smoothly.
And there's no such thing as best way to approach a girl, all girls are different, but as I said, if you aproach her in a respectful way, she'll be nice to you and respect you back, if she doesn't she's a bitch, and dont even waste your time with her. There's plenty of fish in the sea!
Oh, and always remember one thing, the girl that you'll probably end up marrying, will choose you, not the other way around. In all other animal species, females choose the male, why the hell would that be different with us humans?
