From what I've read, I can't use the API and I'd have to reverse-engineer and whatnot but I don't know how true that is. I want to learn to program anyways, and I finished Sololearn's C++ tutorial even though it's very basic but it's a start. So how would I go about doing this?

If I were you, I would use ubot studio. Most bots today are made from ubot studio. It's all visual coding, so you really aren't hard coding the bot. There is much documentation, and tutorials that will help you create your bot from start to finish using ubot. I personally use ubot for everything.

Hmm to be honest, the first I would say is "have a look at the docs of the insta API", now you say its not possible to use their API?
I guess you want to automate some tasks that their API doesnt support or why say so?
Anyway, selenium webdriver framework is also very good for web automation, maybe that helps too.

If you already know how to code, it will be easy to learn Python. Also search for Instagram API + Python, you will get many libraries that show you how to use Instagram API.

There's also a PHP library available: https://github.com/mgp25/Instagram-API
Most other libraries you can find on GitHub are actually based on this library. I used this library while working on a non-IM product and can vouch for its functionality. Every time IG changes something, it's fixed soon in this library.

Yes, that's how it works as long as they don't introduce any breaking changes. But in my experience they don't. One time I experienced a problem with login cookies and I found the solution in the GitHub issues and had to manually patch the library, until the fix made it upstream. But in my opinion this library is the best bet for IG automation.
