I've been trying to become a moderator of dead unmoderated subs without any luck.

I have made several request for subs of all sizes. Some of them have been dead for years but I always get rejected.

My account is over a year old and I have never been banned from any subs.

Do I need to already be a moderator of a sub in order to get approved to become the moderator?

A lot of factors help. You ideally need old acc 10 years for example and with very very rich activity history (lots of high upvoted posts, engagement with community etc.) and finally being a moderator of a large sub give you advantage as you prove that you are capable of moderating a sub.

Best of luck!

If this is true then I'll never become a moderator.

You can still apply, and you may still be selected. These are just some things that will probably help you it doesn't mean 100% to be based on those factors. Don't lose hope!

You'd probably also want to block the moderators from r/onlyfansgirls101, r/nft and r/fitmeals. Seems to be on the same mod ring or something? I think they have an account called ryanc and aintnowaylilbro that auto calls out account for requesting.

Anyway, don't be scared when they do that, the admin doesn't really look into that comment section, so don't delete your request when they randomly call you out for requesting a subreddit. It's best that you just block them.

I have applied few times and get the subs successfully,

- My account was 8 years old and have 42.5k karma, but this is not necessary, as they require you must have an account that is 28 days old and at least 100 comments karma,

- doesn't matter if you get banned from other subs , my account was banned from many subs for spming and abuse, conflict with mods,

- if you don't have karma try to have some they recommande 100 at least but more is better and dont be spammy so your profile will look that you doing karma farming, post one commnet every 15 mins, and don't post more 10 or 15 comments a day, make look natural,
- don't request a big a sub from the start, start with sub that have only few 100s subscribers, delete all your previous requests,

and be careful there some assholes there's, who like to kiss the admines ass, and they will track your profile when you do the request and give comments on your request for the admins tell them that you where doing karma farming or spamming or subs collecting, try to look for them and block those MFs, also try to start your own sub and post anything and act like you are active there , this will increase your chances

There’s also a subreddit that you can post in and an admin will give you a yes or a no as to if you can take that over.

There is a caveat. It’s at their discretion, so it may take days or even months to have something happen.

Here is the sub to make a post in: https://www.reddit.com/r/redditrequest/

Ya that's the sub I have been using. What other ways can you become a moderator?

To become a moderator of an abandoned sub? As far as I recall, what I listed is the only way.

You can create your own subreddit, make some posts. Apply to a few other subreddits to become a mod so that when your request is viewed from r/redditrequest, it looks as though you're a seasoned mod.

What do you mean by "apply to a few other subreddits to become a mod"? Are there ways to apply to become a mod an active subs?

Right now I can't get approved to moderate an abandoned sub with only 1 subscriber
