How can a newbie build web traffc?

I have recently started reading this thread and I've looked through a ton of posts that vaguely reference ways that they have used to get traffic on their website. I'm tech savy but not SEO savy. I need some help figuring how you guy start off marketing your website and getting initial traffic and turning that into consistent traffic. What do you guys think?

I would love some links to other posts regarding this, preferably step by step. Thanks!

You could allways purchase traffic via ppc Adwords, Bing etc while you learn seo. Need any help pm me.

social media.

create some accounts in your niche and follow people from popular accounts in the same niche.

after a while you can start adding some posts with links directing them to your website.

I started off marketing my personal blog through Twitter. Within its first month, I found myself getting a steady 300 visitors a day. For my blogs focused more on making money, I started by buying some link building services on here.

here's a great post on 400 spots. You can also use tools like panda bot, and of course social media. In fact doing all of these things can easily on a bad site dump 10k monthly traffic. This is just laborious but no thought simple on getting traffic, just have to want it.

Commenting on the newest press releases, blog posts, forums, etc. that has to do with your niche. Look up "google alerts" and use your imagination.
