How A Basic Backlink Profile Analysis OF My Competitor Made Me $36K IN 4 Months!

Hello Mo,

Glad to see you too, my friend!

Seeing your name brought up all those memories from that AdSense thread 9 years ago.

Yes, my site was better in all aspects than him, content, on page, back links + I was using an aged domain.

If I look it very critically, then I can say that maybe he had better niche relevancy than me. Because the PBN I was using was not niche relevant but very strong.

Although, I was using Niche Edits but quantity was far less than what he was getting from those forums.

So, only thing I can pinpoint why I wasn't outranking him could be niche relevancy.

I always knew what he was doing, but never imagined this guy will give me such hard time with Forum Links. I usually do not rate forum links highly when it comes to doing seo for my sites, but we live and learn new things:)

Thanks!
How many forum links he use? he just use forum links?

Does xrumer still work

I thought any links that comes from

Domain.com/forum/ is useless.
This is False and I know it for a fact. No link is disregarded, even blog comments. Emm, not sure If I should share this here..

But basically all google see is pages. As long as it can see it, then its a page. Now it needs to measure its power. Power is The Power of its Backlinks divided by Number of Out Links. Now what makes it complex, is the power of its backlinks has same equation and it goes for infinite.

This is why and Orphan page on Forbes isn't worth much compared to a link on medium website homepage.

Now when you look at most forum pages, yeah, the forum has millions of pages, but rarely gets any backlinks. In this case, number of pages is a negative as they spread the website juice too thin. So, yeah, backlinks is counted but has no weight.

For blog comments its a different story, you might have a strong page, but it has thousands of comments which means thousands of it links. Again, no juice is there.

Now look at reddit and quora why they rank high in serps while forums not. Because they have strict outlinking policy. They will ban you for trying to build backlink and They do get tons of backlinks. Because, you are linking to your channel, so, they get a lot of juice and keep it within their domain.

Finally, relevancy, content and link placement are considered as supplements. If you have them, you multiply your link power by some factor, if you don't, you get the raw power.

This is why I keep asking Sam here about the sheer power of his backlinks against his opponent forum links. With enough sheer power, you should be able to destroy any relevancy metric. But looks like in this case, he had to match his opponent link profile to outrank him. Reminds me of Ahrefs Backlink Checker Weird Case.

And no, xrummer is useless, because any decent forum with decent link juice wouldn't let automated tool post on them. And if it did, it will get tens of thousands of spam links daily, which again will dilute its Power. So, its like shotting yourself in the foot.

This answer became longer than I first intended

What happened to your website now? Were you able to revive it?

Yes, I think it's possible.

Check out the example below. I have put the link in BHW as an anchor. And use the Color function to color the anchor with the text color. You can inspect elements to get the exact color of the text.

For example - I think BHW is the best place to learn IM. [See BHW which is linked here, don't have the default link color which is yellow.]

Also, some forum text editors don't have the color function so you can use this code manually.

Code -
Code:
[size=1][url=https://www.blackhatworld.com/][color=#ffc]BHW[/color][/url][/size]

I have added the space between each bracket on the code above. Just copy the code and remove the space between the bracket and preview or post here. You will see that the default color of the link which is yellow on the BHW forum changes to the text color which is #ffc. You can then change the value to match the exact text color of the forum where you are going to make the link.

You can also use the size function to make your anchor look very small like this.

Code -
Code:
[size=1][url=https://www.blackhatworld.com/][color=#ffc]BHW[/color][/url][/size]

You can use this option when the forum has set underline for the links. So even if you change the color of the anchor/link, you will still see the underline and that's where you can use the size function to make it look very tiny that's invisible to the human eye, just like pixels. You need to check first what works and whatnot since different forums have a different sets of options.

Thanks for dropping this nugget in here.

Interesting, never thought niche forums can be so powerful... I wonder what about niche relevant topics that already ranked in top 10...
Were links do-, no- follow or mixed?

Majority of the links were no follow, but he had some very juicy do follow links in the mix too.

Very sneaky method. The guys who outranked you in the end, did they use this method too or just neg seo? Did they report your website to google?

This works on many sites that have the edit function. You even don't have to change the colors.

That's a really interesting story and it definitely shows that you can't just rely on one method to try and outrank your competitors. It's also a good reminder to always keep an eye on what your competitors are doing so you can stay one step ahead.

It's really cool. Thanks for sharing this. I wish you better luck with it.
