Hosting in different country: bad for SEO?

Hi,
We have a website running in The Netherlands. However, we're not satisfied about our Hosting provider and want to test a different hosting provider.

The only problem is that they have a server in Germany, not in The Netherlands. Will that be a problem for our SEO?

I don't think so, the only factor that may affect your seo is the speed of the server.
 
It's always a good thing to choose a hosting server near your visitors (To get a better loading speed),
But you can host your server anywhere and use a CDN,
I don't know the type of website you're trying to host, but why not using Amazon or Google Cloud?
 
I'm in France, website hosted in Russia, through cloudflare, no effect on seo that I can see

Thanks for your reply. We're a (very) small company and don't have enough knowledge about Cloud Hosting. Also, we do like DirectAdmin A LOT because we can setup stuff ourselves. Therefore decided to not choose for Cloud hosting, even though we like the concept.

Server location isn't a ranking factor. User experience is.

If your page loads fine for someone in France, it doesn't matter if the server is located in France or if it's American.

You can always use a free CDN as mentioned above to increase speeds for users internationally, such as https://www.cloudflare.com/

It will not affect better to create more back link from the country you wanna rank for.
 
Server location is close to the user website speed is better
 
Everything matters, and obviously a good latency is always great. But I've been hosting in massively shit hostings for a long time like OVH which are in France but offer 300ms in Europe (don't know exactly why, but I suspect their conections are completely collapsed for certain services) and I've been ranking adequately. Anyway I trully think that it has hindered a lot my rankings in certain keywords, so just have in mind, that it is not important the location, but the speed to connect from where the user is connecting from. So if you are in France, your server is in France, your page is in French and your visitor is from France but your hosting offers a 300ms response, bear in mind that a US hosting with 200ms will be plain better despite of being in US.

So location itself, is not determinant.
