1and1 tried to scam me and to charge me for renewals that I canceled. Never again. They have contract IDs , and it was same ID for both hosting and domain, always bundled together. I disabeld the contract ID renewal as soon as i puchased their package, and they had same contract ID checkbox on another place which I didn't disable. It was misleading.
Luckily I revoked payment permission and they couldn't charge ridiculously expensive 2nd year :)

So you are saying that 1 and 1 is as solid as Powerup?

No, not even close.

EIG and their merry band of hosting companies are as solid as inmotion?

Sorry again, not even close.

Misinformation can sink a perfectly good ship.
Host as a product is all the same, ways of advertising are different. EIG advertises for non-techie persons with titles such “ You can now create your own website with XXX.
Everyone gives value to their host cause of friendly support, Live chat and fixing any small issue on their site ( which is not an obigliation but they do it to keep the customer.

Some EIG companies:

iPage is a nightmare for support.
Hostgator is hit or miss for support.
Hostnine is broken half the time.
Bluehost is slower than me and I am 60 with a pulled groin.
Justhost should be embarrassed to have host in their name.
A Small Orange - nice guys but their tech staff is weak.

1 and 1 is not an EIG company but they are slower than molasses in wintertime when it comes to support.

I have another dozen companies that I have used/tested over the past 9 or 10 years or so and could go on and on but those above should suffice in terms of real life experiences.

I've also deleted your reference to some other random forum as we don't promote other forums on BHW as it is against the TOS.

It's not uncommon for me to spend money to see what works and those mentioned not only don't work, they should hang their head in shame for the service they provide.

Sorry for the forum thing, hopefully i don’t get any infraction.
I am aware of EIG brands, the list goes on an on and asmallorange was pretty good before EIG acquired it.
However the only thing that gives slow sites, suspended sites and non fully functional sites is because they limit bunch of things to make sure they overload and put as much sites on it.
All small hosts are fine with it since they don’t have so many customers but a small host can turn in a fly by night one when they see how hard is to promote and manage a hosting business. The profits of a hosting company is so low when you are not talking with a 5 digits number.
We are going off topic so i wish the OP all the best on finding a proper fit for him.

We are not off topic - he asked for people to share their hosting experience with him.

My shares are real life shares. I've spent money at each of those I mentioned as well as a bunch more as I do a ton of testing and have time to do that.

Agreed, A Small Orange was decent until EIG came along but EIG did come along and their tech support is not close to top quality. I've actually spoken to those guys on the phone before they were sucked into the pile of poop that is EIG.

Look at some of the sites on Godaddy's shared hosting and you'll see thousands of sites on the same IP... many are in bad neighborhoods as well.

Gdaddy shared hosting is slow and annoying at best (yeah, I've spent my hard earned money there too) and that is on a good day.

There is a hosting service here on BHW that cost me well over 10K a few years back that I'm not going to mention because that sort of thing has to be done in the SL section but the majority of those offered in the Marketplace are pretty solid from my experience.

BTW, no infraction as I look at intent and I did not see that there in my opinion.

@cobollatin - look in the marketplace, talk to the sellers in there and see who seems to fit what you need.

I'd be shocked if you did not make a connection with someone in there that would not only meet your needs but also give you a comfortable feeling.

What would the top five hosting companies you worked with over the years be? I'm looking at potentially moving all my stuff to somewhere local. Someplace I can go knocking on their door if their stuff shits out. Curious if you've found anything in our area to be appealing, or just any hosts in general that exceeded your expectations.

I have host on a2hosting for 3 years. So far they are good, also they have good VPS hosts (kinda expensive).

I would recommend checking Marketplace here. Most of the hosting provider here are pretty decent.
Before ordering I would recommend reading reviews about whatever provider you choose. Please keep in mind to choose a provider that is at least 4-5 years in business.

I will try them

Can Any one say which one of them does not ask for document verification..?
