1and1 - one of the worst hosting companies based on reputation and personal experience.

GoDaddy - really? You name them as best hosting? Borderline criminals when you do business with them.

The others I have not done business with over the past 10 or 11 years but suggesting those are good is indefensible.

I've been using hostgator for a while and never had any issues with them. Really impressed about what people are saying about them in here.

I am betting you were sent a verification link for the domain name. Check your spam folder and see if one is there. On some systems you have to verify once you do that it should go active. If that is not the case then i would submit a support ticket and see what is going on with it.

Glad to see a honest review. SAME experience here with both of these. I wouldn't go anywhere near them.

I am currently using ecowebhosting.co.uk because I got a year free. It's pretty good actually, would recommend. Also, it has one click WordPress and support for letsencrypt (free ssls).
 
If you search twitter or other social media platforms for Hostgator or related companies such as Bluehost, Justhost etc for reviews, you will come across honest reviews where people are facing bad experiences with them. They are a big brand who invests a lot in digital marketing, hammering their brand on viewers, who eventually assume them to be a good and end up signing with them.

i use their shared baby package , and as soon as i had some traffic coming it started breaking down
sometimes it would break down for a while saying i abused cpu and i had to keep optimazing the site every single time
i don't about their other packages but the shared ones suck ass so hard !
 
I am a hostgator user. I don;t have problems with their services because of the light traffic to my sites. But, they keep raising prices. My plan was of 9.99/pm on shared hosting. They kept subtly raising it and now its almost $14/mo. Since the change of ownership, they appear super greedy. They want all the money but don;t want to do much on the service part.
 
For starter, you may go with hosting providers like
Bluehost
GoDaddy
Namecheap
Easyspace
RoseHosting
iPage
All above are good hosting providers.They will provide a varied hosting plan so that you can purchase as per the requirement.And they offer hosting plan at a reasonable price. You may also get a coupon of all these hosting providers from Cheap SSL Coupon Code.
 
I quit hostagator after a few weeks due to many issues and went to 1 & 1 who I must say have been superb, word press installed self hosting cost me £4.99 to get my site live. Its still in its infancy but looking great so far and 1 & 1 have been so helpful. I didn 't even know what a host was a month ago but I already know hostgator is a pain in the....
 
Never use the EIG umbrella brands. They are unfortunately dire and provide slow "service' if you get any service at all. Definitely recommend you using a reputable non EIG provider. Such as a brand from our marketplace.
