Hostgator is about to lose me...

my reseller account was suspended on friday, because the said I didnt pay for 6 months! WTF!! I have a paypal subscription and I did pay... since 2010...

Well I submitted a ticket with no response...

on saturday I logged in again and chatted with the client support... they said they were gonna solve it fast...

nothing happened.

on SuNDAY I submitted another ticket with proof of every payment....nothing again

they did not even respond the tickets!!!!

today I chatted with another guy and he solved the problem in 10 minutes... they are going to lose me too

What do you guys think about buy amazon virtual machines? Now, I think they have pre-configured images with LAMP stack. What's the advantages to use hostgator over that?

Diversify your hosting providers if you are hosting alot of blog/ site. Do not overly depend upon one provider.

i have left 1 year now the gator.... and everything is fine now!:P

I've been slowly migrating my sites over one by one to a UK host over the last few months. The last straw was when one of my main money sites went down for nearly 12 hours. Then when it finally did come back online there were problems with the SQL server for quite a while afterwards. It's fair to say I lost a lot of money that day.

After trying to speak to their support over that period I got no answer until the problem was already rectified and I received no apology even after telling them I had lost money. So they lost my respect straight away after being a loyal customer for many years.

The hosting is THE NUMBER ONE THING THAT YOU NEED TO WORK IN INTERNET... after of lot of companies and lot of down's i take the responsibility to take dedicated server..... i know that the money is too mats but is better to pay something that i know is working and everything is about me.... and that responsibility is not my hand! after one year i have 2 dedicated server with down time is minimum. if you go in companies like gator is like to be newbie !
any one the hit the button "web hosting" and they go to gator and some others companies.... if the whm is heat in other site (not your cpanel) is take down everything! not only your site! if i put some adult page in your ip... that take down everything... and is better to pay something to know that you don't have an issue!
i pay 160 euro per month i have 2 very god server and now i have over 160 site with any problem! :) and never i take again something from gator and bluehost!:P

bitheway .... if you start to see the whm... s very easy if you know linux!:P

Bluehost is becoming same shit, I did not have to wait like 20 minutes to talk to customer support, few years back, they were really nice
now you have to wait really long to talk to smebody
and just in last week they blocked all my emails sending to gmail, aool.com
So I cant reply to customers
VPS is so expensive, but Bluehost is unbearable, fucking assholes

think now.... i am in greece.... and i have to wait in phone over 1 hour! :D

I see all this 'bad' stuff about HG, but either I've just been lucky and dodged a bullet thus far, or, I have the same problems too, and I just haven't noticed! All in all, I'm pretty happy with them.
I moved to HG from GD, after GD just got so damn annoying with their silly billing system.

Well, it's the same group, but they may "act" differently at certain moments. HG was great once, BH is great now. I don't think it will last, but it's possible to be a good service ATM. I'm using iPage (among other hosts) and has been working really good for the past 6 months. First months were terrible, slow servers, lots of downtime, crappy support, but they've changed (at least I didn't have anymore problems with them). How long will it last? IDK, but for now, for me, iPage is really good. Would I recommend it? No.

Had them before the buy out. Felt the support went south so in a trigger happy move jumped on a VPS that is up to date.

Lost a couple Magento sites and a little more money but everything feels solid. Just a little bit of learning curve (still don't know a lot). I have root too.
For what is worth...

The big question is where should we move to ?
I was with ipower before, their support went bad.
Then I signed up with Host Gator around 5 years ago as a reseller. Was very happy with the service and quick support (via chat or email).
Now, their servers goes down or slows down after few weeks. If you try to chat online to someone, wait time is almost 1 hr.

Need to find a new host with good reselling plans and better customer support.

And enough with the look for small company or look for this kind of company BS (It doesn't help). Write the name of the company you are using and are satisfied with.

Look at the companies selling in the market place, small companies usually are much more reliable for individual users and tend to be cheaper as they are fighting for market shares.

I have never had any problems with them but seeing so many people complain about them, I'd want to move from them as soon as possible.

OP i went through the same exact thing you were going through (their support wise) I like how it was simple and easy just talking to them right their with the chat system but their support just went downhill. I left a while ago and i'm happy so far

Get Namecheap , they provide you a live chat support when ever you want and never got any issue with them.
(they help me even in noobiest issues )

or

Move to a host that not uses word "unlimited" .
