Good day here! I want to share here my scream of disappointment. I should point out that I’am tech geek and crypto lover, this passion I usually express with my doings or, namely, I invest in start ups. I was so excited when I stumbled upon Silence messenger - donations in crypto and absolutely secure. But it was failure. Can you imagine, there are no group chats and voice messaging AND NO video calls. So, I’am just a fool that I donated to this hopeless project and I should warn you not to repeat my mistake.

It's a very sad situation. You must conduct a study of the selected project before investing. Why didn't you do that?
 
Try Telegram video chats if it's so important for you.
 
Haha LOL (sorry if that offends you). Generally, if I had money to invest.. I would think thrice before investing into a concept that is already there (skype, telegram,whatsapp and whatnot!). There's no point reinventing the wheel IMHO. That being said, the project might actually have a new model which can change the industry. I would just be cautious.

Why don't you check the app-options before donating?

Silence has ALWAYS touted itself as a tool to encrypt texts locally on your phone + OTA encryption for texts sent to other phones.

It wasn't ever supposed to be a replacement for Telegram or Whatsapp - it dealt with Text messaging from the GET GO. Text messaging being a necessary evil even to this day.

It was called SMSSecure before this and literally says so on its page that it's a fork of Signal that deals with SMS/MMS encryption only.

You cannot call it hopeless - it isn't a failed product. It does what it set out to do, and does it well. It never claimed to be an alternative to any web based messenger.

You not doing your due diligence or trying to the product before donation (It is free and open source FFS) - is entirely your mistake.
 
If you need video calls then use Skype or FaceTime (in case you have iOS mobile phone).
I am not sure it's secured enough though.
 
er....surprise? this messenger accept only text messages :D
