I’m building backlinks for a very new niche site with little authority.
In the past, I always diversified: out of 10 backlinks, roughly 5 went to the homepage/domain/brand and 5 to inner pages.
This time I’m paying for just one backlink from a very well-known site in the same niche with a lot of organic traffic, so I want to choose carefully.
Would you point it to the homepage or to a specific article? Which option would you consider more valuable for a very new site with only a few backlinks, and why?

I would point it to homepage for overall boost.

Single link will probably not move the keyword to the top spots.

But targeting homepage can go a long way.

i will point it to an article that have more internal links that way it will boost other pages on the site

For a very new site I’d usually point a strong niche relevant backlink to the homepage to build overall authority and brand signals.

Once the site has a stronger foundation I’d use quality links toward specific articles to support individual rankings.

It's obvious, most of them will say "homepage" when considering it's a new niche site. Do the same!

I’d probably decide based on where the link is actually going to appear

If the surrounding content is clearly about one of your articles, I’d link that article. I wouldn’t force it to the homepage just because the site is new

Point it to a specific inner article every time for a brand new site, a link to a targeted article passes way more direct topical relevance and can rank that exact page fast

Of course the homepage first, especially for a brand new website. I would build a good foundation first, then start for the the pages/articles as the site grows.

I’d choose the destination based on relevance rather than always sending links to the homepage. A strong contextual link to a useful article can help that page while keeping the overall profile natural.

Hi Movementking!

Without a second thought, since I am paying for the link, I would point it to the page I want to rank.

Also, for your website,I would recommend keeping less than 50% of your links pointing to the homepage and 50% + pointing to different inner pages.

In my experience, having a natural mix of homepage and inner-page links is better for the long term game.

Hope ! it helps you to decide the option to go with ( your new site + with few backlinks + paying for 1 great backlink scenario )
:)

I’ve had better luck mixing things up instead of putting all my eggs in one basket. Feels much less sketchy to Google if you sprinkle links around your site, mixing home and articles. If the backlink slips into a relevant spot mid-article on another site, I’ll always point it to an inner page to make it match the vibe. I track what moves the needle and tweak every 6-8 weeks.

i dont want the page or article rank fast, i want to improve the domain authority

Tracking the results after every change is important. Guessing can waste a lot of time.
lmao what are you talking about? how should i track something before i even decied what to do? are you comment farming?

If you tell me how i can mix up 1 link i would be very happy. please read my thread before commenting.

No unfortunately didnt help at all, my question was about 1 link to a extreme relevant site with high traffic and high DR to improve my overall authority and not that i want to rank a specific page. i know how to diversify backlinks, but i am talking about 1 high effective link and i want to improve the website authority, so why i get answers to questions i didnt even ask?

For a brand-new site, I’d lean toward the homepage if this is your only strong link. It gives the domain a broader trust signal and you can pass some of that authority to important articles through internal links.

If one article is already close to ranking or has clear commercial value, then I’d deep-link it instead.

For a very new site I’d lean toward the homepage if the goal is building overall authority and brand strength. If the article directly matches the linking site’s topic and has a clear ranking target then an inner page can be more valuable.

I’d choose the article if the backlink fits naturally. A relevant deep link can send targeted authority to a page with ranking potential. The homepage is better for brand building.

If the linking article is highly relevant to a specific page, though, pointing it there can pass stronger topical relevance.
With just one high-quality backlink, relevance and natural placement matter more than simply choosing homepage vs. inner page.
