Holy Crap!! Yahoo Site Explorer Shutting Down Today

Spyglass is still working at my end.
However, I don't use it to scrape my own backlinks, just to spy on competitors. For my own site I use GWTs.

sad news indeed , i am using traffic Travis which is good software , but i did love yahoo tool the best...

will bing offer it instead or something ? i heard about bing webmasters tool is not bad one but never tried yet .. anyone??

Bing Webmasters Tool is crap. The only way to check a website's backlinks is by verifying ownership of the website.

I would assume that you can get the same YSE data in bings webmaster tools but you would only be able to check your own site as you can't verify your competitions sites.

I hate walking in the dark. The concept is simple and any programmer can replicate it, but the resources required to keep an updated graph of the internet are beyond what any one SEO company could ever achieve. The only way around this is an open collaborative project, where thousands of users contribute a small fraction of their resources to scrap parts of the web, if anyone could get like 10k internet users interested in this...

I was using backlinkwatch before but it shows max 1000 links ..

Really SUCKS, specially for all people using it daily like me.

We will miss you YSE :(

Whoever comes up something comparable to YSE, will be a very very rich person

There is so much money to be made in this niche, someone will come up with something soon...I hope :D

It must be some big ass company not just someone. This shit costs money. Lots of it. and whoever makes it available for the public is not doing it for charity so be ready to pay.

Coming up with a comparable to YSE is tough, frankly I'm not impressed by the alternatives.

Sure, MajesticSEO seems to be a good solution, but the look/feel of their website sucks, and so does the pricing options.

Open Site Explorer provides better usability, but then their data sucks compared to MajesticSEO.

What are you guys finding?

Yahoo is going downhill for a looong time and this is another step in the process...i wonder if that company is around in a couple years...they are removing everything that made them good... i dont think something like site explorer will come again..simply beacuse it is an big project and it costs to much only the big ones have the money and resources to put up something like siteexplorer for free....

This is a shame. I normally find and create backlinks myself, but do, or at least did, use Yahoo Site Explorer to check out what competitors had.

It's a big hit in terms of spying backlinks..
Honestly I feel like all available alternatives are shit..Majestic doesn't have the resource to show the number of backlinks YSE used to, not to mention crappy jokes as Seo Spyglass, etc. No clue about SeoMoz but it's still a questionable, paid solution.
Pretty sure Bing won't be developing same solution but just using same webmaster tools as Scroogle. At least before they reach some reasonable market share.
Pretty fucked up situation.

Yahoo explorer was the easiest to use and most of tools/plugins used it.

Now we will need to wait some time until other service step up and make the functions that yahoo explorer had.
