    Hey there BHW! :D

Me and 2 buddys have finally finished the first version of our website, and we desperately need marketing tips.
We are students and we have zero money to spend on ads. Our site is a bookmarking website, which is extremely simple, neat and user friendly.

But we are having a hard time figuring out how we should market this website without any money. Since there is nothing funny, interesting or exotic with the concept, we find it difficult.
Our site simply makes your internet life easier... It's hard to bring something out from this to a social network, how would we do this? "Super sweet bookmarking site, follow us! (for what reason?)"

If any of you have any ideas which are free, please - post them below!

I'm not sure if i should insert the link here, i've heard its not good for SEO purposes. For example if someone googles our site and the first result will be a thread from BHW - that doesnt look so pretty :(
If you want to check out the site, please send me a PM. Or perhaps i can type it in some other weird way here? Like "m y s i t e dot com". I don't know, you are the masters BHW, help us out!

    Wrong.
So first you want to be another Facebook or Digg and after many months of work you finally ask the question "how are we going to market this?".

But don't worry, I know how it feels - been in that position many times before.
What makes your website/service unique over others? Define a few special features your website does more than Digg or Twitter or any other bookmarking site.

When I first saw Twitter I wasn't excited at all, it was another shitty spam network in my eyes, and it STILL IS, but the entire world is using Twitter...

It's not about what Twitter has (technically) but its their marketing strategy - they have converted quickly spamming texts to all your followers/friends into a new positive/engaging light.

This is not related to anything social at all. This is entirely "single player" so to speak. Our site is very similar to delicous dot com.
I can give you the link if you want to check it out

Basically its a place to store, save and organize your links

    Who is your target?
Who did you design this website for?
Is it for online marketers, website owners, kids,... ?

When you search the web and find various sites you wish to read later, for example blackhatworld threads. It takes to much space in the bookmarks bar and it's annoying to have .txt documents with link. This is a site to simply save all your links, organize them neatly and keep everything clean. Never lose your links and access them anywhere, on your phone, on your friends computer and in different browsers.

Our target is people who are tired of losing links, people who want to have a place to store all links for later and easy access.

In the near future we will add some cool features, for example you will be able to share a folder full of links to the public.

If we go deeply into the our targets it is people who usually wants to keep track of many links, for example entrepreneurs, internet marketers, developers. Well, people who are active on the internet and want a place to store all important stuff.

Pfew, it's not an easy "thing" to promote really. All it does is saving links on the cloud? Rather than on a .txt or your browser, right?

But you said in a "neat" and "clean" way. You should try to do make a compelling idea on these two words because the product alone isn't interesting enough (for me) to even trying it out.

So start with the two words that ads a value to your product, then try to find your audience (social media...). Promote it by repeating the story multiple times and let your audience share the product!

Sharing will only happen if they believe in your product. In other words, you need to represent their beliefs with your product.

It will take you some time, but if you keep repeating. Some might use it.

Could you PM me the website url. Will take a look at it!
