Hi, today i purchased a hosting plan with hostgator, and a domain from crazydomains (it was cheaper here). I have changed the nameservers on crazydomains to the ones hostgator provided, as i cannot yet transfer the domain. when i type my domain name into the address bar however, i get 'The server at xxxxxxxxxx.xxx cannot be found, because the DNS lookup failed.' Why am i getting this? i have installed wordpress succesfully, but haven't uploaded any content or index yet, with other hosting providers i at least get re-directed to their homepage when there is no index.html. Do the nameservers take time to update or do i need an index file? any insight would be great, i'd like to sort it out before i start uploading shit. thanks.

DNS propagation can take anywhere from 24-72 hours. It's usually instant for me but then again I stick to registrars like NameCheap and Internetbs.

Tried intodns, everything seems fine apart from 'Recursive Queries' is red, as well as 'Reverse MX A records (PTR)' and 'WWW A Record'. no idea what these things mean. thanks for the replies, i will wait until tomorrow and see if its sorted.

Just give it time .. DNS updates are slow .. they system was not designed for this rapid convergence that we have today.
All name servers will soon agree who is yourdomain.com and then you should not see these issues again.

DNS update may take upto 24 hours
check your nameservers using network tools
if it shows your hostgator nameservers then simply flush your dns cache and try again

if that doesnt work then just pm me your domain name
