Hi guys,

This is my first post on BHW.

I want to start a blog and niche would be health-related. So i have no idea about blogging in past, I am just a guy from IT field and want to give it a shot at blogging.

Why am I doing this : My goal is to develop an audience first and then focus on earning if all goes good.

What is my plan : From all the knowledge that I have gained, I will start with wordpress.com because it's free and then as I said if I see signs of earning, I will migrate to .org version of WordPress.

What do I want from you guys :
1. If there is any one who has good exp with blogging, please tell me what knowledge I lack and what are some terms I should come across for blogging because I am sure that what I know is very less. (I have heard terms like backlinks, CPA and all but I have no idea what that is.)
2. If you know better approach than my wordpress.com to .org, please share so that I can think and do accordingly.
3. Basically, any suggestions or steps from bloggers who had success in blogging.

You said that you come from an IT background? How’s your knowledge of the health-related niche that you want to write about? Is it something that you are truly passionate about, or do you mostly see the blog as a potential moneymaker?
In today’s online world, when everyone can research and write about everything, content is key. Sure, optimizing your blog for SEO may bring people over to your blog, but they will only return if they find your content relevant, sincere, or engaging in some other way. If your content is great, then your blog will eventually take off no matter what. Every other trick in the book exists only to make it happen faster.
Anyway, as per your questions, yes, WordPress is a solid platform. There’s nothing really wrong with it, it is simple and intuitive to use, and it is used by countless successful bloggers.
Backlinks are simply links from other sites that lead to yours. They are meant to increase traffic and thus, increase your ranking. However, over the years, Google has grown wiser to this trick, and will slap you for any attempts to exploit it. What that means is that you only want backlinks from reliable, high-ranking sites.

Health niche is very competitive, you need to have unique and valuable content optimized for user intent, keyword research, page speed, focus on only quality links. Search in BHW, there are many useful guides.
 
Good luck on your journey. You can learn a lot from YT but there's a lot of information there, so it's up to you to absorb the good stuff.
 
Health niches are hard to rank as they are considered YMYL niches, starting with wordpress.com is a bad idea, with the niche and the free wp you are setting yourself up to failure from the start

improve your base knowledge. dont do the job that u cant to do. like your niche blog now. get wp self hosted not wp.com and start blogging. takes time, takes effort, takes good knowledge to get success in this field. good luck!

It is always good to start blogging, refer basic SEO factors in Google. Also, watch more youtube videos you will get more idea
 
Target specific keywords in each post that will drive people to your blog. Also be consistent in posting
 
Take it from me, blog around EXISTING DEMAND

Talk about stuff that people are actively searching for

How?

Use QUESTION research tools like Answerthepublic and write in-depth answers to those questions

If you want to speed up your writing, dictate your posts

If you want questions organized into comprehensive and cohesive content, hire a VA to do it
 
You can start in health niche when you are ready, and you can also get social media traffic through promotion
 
Not just health niche, you can start in any niche you want, just for on content quality mostly
