Morning! I would really appreciate some help. I'm hoping to get into content creation. I took some advice given by a helpful member and offered a free article to 5 people in the freebies thread.

I wrote the first one (on cryptocurrencies) and the person I wrote it for is now asking me for a price for more articles. Since I am not yet eligible to post in the marketplace what do I do? Do I need to politely refuse? I am only just getting started with this so it's a little bit overwhelming (and exciting!).

To start, thank you for asking us about this before doing it.

According to rule 3.6, the member soliciting your services shouldn't be doing that.
3.6 Advertising to, or solicitation of, any member to buy or sell any products or services through the unauthorized or impermissible use of the Site such as PM solicitation. (Note: If you have something you want to sell on this forum, post it in the For Sale section).
As for what you should do, politely decline their request. If you want to sell here the right way, you'll need to become a Jr. VIP. If you sell here as a yellow member, you'll be violating rule 12, which will result in an infraction.
12. FOR SALE/SERVICES SECTION.

We may charge a fee to post content in some areas of Black Hat World. The fee is an access fee permitting content to be posted in a designated area. Each party posting content to the Site is responsible for the content and for compliance with the Terms. All fees paid will be non-refundable in the event that such content is removed from the Site for violating the Terms. Use the "For Sale" and "Freelance" sections at your own risk. We are not an arbitration forum, and will not act as an intermediary between any person or parties. We are not liable or responsible for any damages or losses of any kind that result from the use of this forum, its subsections, its members, staff, or transactions. However, we reserve the right, but do not have the obligation, to take action against any and all scams that we are notified of on the Site. All claims of fraud or scams must be substantiated with solid proof. : No selling, offering your services or WTB (“want to buy”) threads outside of this forum without written Admin permission. Members that ignore this warning will be issued an infraction or banned without notice at the discretion of the admin team.

Brilliant! So I need to become a junior VIP member and pay the 97 dollars, then pay 30 for the sales thread. Plus get to 100 posts. Can do!

Take your time though as you have to have 60 days on the site to qualify for JR Vip.

That is an option - don't forget you need to be a member for 60 days as well - we all love quality content, but don't spam the forum with thanks, this has 2 negative impacts on your sales thread.

1. You may end up with infractions for spamming. (use the thanks button)
2. More importantly - we encourage people to look at your past posts, more so with our new newbies guide to the marketplace (coming soon) there will be a specific section on how to review a seller before you buy from them. Past posts and how to find them will be part of this decision-making process.

Essentially where a potential buyer sees 99 "thanks" - and "cheers" - especially from a content creator such as yourself. They may think twice about engaging your services, whereas a seller who has contributed multiple engaging threads and successfully posted follow up comments on them will be seen as a more authentic and engaged seller.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I will take my time. I don't want to just create posts for the sake of it either. I must say that so far my experience of the site has been great. People are being so helpful which is great when you feel you need loads!

A newbies guide to the marketplace is exactly what I need! Thank you for your sound advice. I am quite happy to take my time and do things thoroughly. I know about the "thanks" button, but I can't seem to figure out how the "likes" system works. Sorry if that sounds like a basic question but I really am new to everything and trying to soak up as much information as I can (I don't even use facebook or twitter!).

Get your name out there and get good and you'll be drowning in work and swimming in cash.

Source: My name is out there, my content writing sales thread isn't even live any more, and I'm still drowning in work and swimming in cash.

Likes are overrated, man. These days we are collecting neutral iTrader scores.

The other thing to keep in mind is anyone approaching you as your membership level stands at the moment, asking to buy content from you is breaking the rules and the PM message should be reported.

"drowning in work and swimming in cash." I like that, very well put, it's almost as though you're a writer lol :)

Thank you for your comment Sherb it made me smile.

Thanks, I think they already know about it as the first thing I did was ask to see what the procedure was.
