Basically when you search the keyword with Google if you do not see much relevant content even-though the keyword
is exact match then you know you have chosen a good keyword that you can rank easily for but still get convertible traffic.

Grab a subscription over at ahrefs or MajesticSEO and start analyzing the backlinks of the top5 guys ranking. By evaluating their backlink profiles, you can make a better educated guess if you can outrank them.

There are many keyword research tools out there to experiment with like seo spy,bing keyword tool,word stream.These tool help when you spend some time and analyze market trends there is not clear cut blue print for keyword reserch people learn with over the period of time.
